The staff at Foyles, Brecon couldn't be more helpful. We had somehow accidentally booked Foyles but in Ireland (not even connected to Foyles, Brecon)! Reception did everything to find us a room, no mean feat considering it was Easter weekend fully booked with a wedding party. I would recommend this hotel. Our stay was warm, welcoming, efficient attention to detail amazing View all feedback.
Fantastic place to stay Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5
We both opted for traditional meals: I ordered the cheeseburger while my husband chose the fish and chips. However, the menu did not mention that the fish and chips would come with a dressed salad and tartar sauce, which left my husband quite unhappy, as he strongly dislikes any kind of condiment or dressing. Unfortunately, both of our meals were heavily salted, which really detracted from our enjoyment. I would caution anyone with high blood pressure to be wary of this. As we were leaving and settling the bill, I provided some feedback about our dining experience. The lady I spoke with was very apologetic and assured me that she would discuss our concerns with the chef, which bodes well for future diners. Overall, I would rate the service a 3 and the location a 5. The hotel has the advantage of being in a quiet setting.
This hotel is conveniently located near some fantastic hiking trails and just a short drive from Hay on Wye. The hotel itself is very elegant, and the food is delightful. I would rate the rooms a 5, the service a 4, and the location a 4. A highlight of the hotel is the stunning view it offers.
I have visited this restaurant before, but tonight's impromptu trip was a chance to see if the food lived up to my memories. It certainly did! There was no need to make a reservation, and the service was both prompt and courteous. I enjoyed an exquisite rack of lamb, a unique and delicious cheeseboard, and a glass of exceptionally well-kept port. While I wholeheartedly praise the food and wine, it is the service that truly makes Foyles a standout restaurant. They consistently meet the high standards that most fine dining establishments strive for, regardless of who is serving you or which manager or chef is on duty. Achieving perfection can be difficult, but at Foyles, you will witness it unfold around you. Enjoy! Tim Joiner, Former Lord Mayor of the City of Westminster.
