Sand Motor Inn - Gimli

The pizza here is incredible! It features a wonderfully thin crust, but I shared it with some friends who usually prefer thicker crusts and they absolutely loved it as well. The crispy, thin crust is topped generously with beats and cheese, making it feel quite substantial and satisfying. I will definitely be coming back!

I really can’t say enough about this often underrated place. We went there this evening for an absolutely delicious meal. Everything about our meals was perfect and the service was outstanding. Things have really changed in the last few years and I am never disappointed when I come to The Sandbar. For dinner, we had some of the best french fries we’ve ever had (they double fry them! and my quesadilla was fabulous not an ounce of grease to be seen! The Ruben sandwich was fresh and delish and the chicken caesar salad was a large portion and super fresh. Even the Coca Cola was brixed properly! More local folks need to start supporting the small businesses in town if they want them to survive, and I highly recommend getting down to the sandbar ASAP to enjoy the great food and service! Edited to add in October 2022: Years later I still think the Sand Bar is amazing! The food this summer was again SO DELICIOUS! The best french fries in town, perfect beef dip and their burgers are unique and delicious. We also ordered their pizza for the first time and it was also very good! The new waitress Stephanie is a breath of fresh air and super friendly. Can't wait to go back!

The restaurant has good food, friendly staff and reasonable prices. Most menu items we’ve tried have been delicious and well portioned but the butter chicken dinner comes with a tiny piece of naan and the vegetables that come with the dinner is a tiny portion of diced onion and peppers. We will go back, but not for the butter chicken dinner. The steak dinner on Fridays is very good, but they have never had any HP or steak sauce.

Food was great parking lot terrible wrecked my car in one of the hundred pot holes.

I was the only one in my group that wanted pizza, but they only sell them in extra large size. Was a long wait for our food, pizza was sub-par, and they were not following health protocols very well. Tables were not distanced but it was not busy so I just figured they would not seat anyone near us. Shortly before our food came, it got busier and people did in fact sit at the table right by us. Also noticed waitress/cashier and someone in the kitchen with their masks pulled down. Was anxious to leave after this. Will not be back.
