It has been a challenging time amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, but we decided to try Olives, a grill and mini supermarket offering Mediterranean specialties. This is one of the top three best gyros I have ever tried. The spicy sauce was amazing. Even though I live 400 miles away from this restaurant, I would make a special trip just to come back here again.
We typically do not dine in at this restaurant, but instead opt for takeout. You place your order at the counter, so there are no waiters or waitresses. The staff at the counter is friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. My go-to dishes are the chicken kebobs and baklava. I used to love their lentil soup, but unfortunately it is no longer on the menu. I also purchase grape leaves from here to make dolma. Overall, it is a nice little restaurant.
I was thrilled to discover this restaurant! I had been craving Mediterranean food. We ordered a vegetarian platter with a mix of salad and rice, along with a falafel wrap. Everything was served with complimentary sides, except for the Feta cheese. I particularly enjoyed my dish, which featured grilled eggplant as the main protein. The food was perfectly seasoned and cooked, with just the right amount of olive oil. Each element of the meal, from the rice to the dolmades to the hummus, was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully spiced. The garlic sauce was especially delicious. My dining companion enjoyed his falafel wrap, and also ordered a side of fries, which were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The only disappointment was the homemade baklava, which was too tender and lacked the layers of crispy phyllo typically found in the dessert. Despite this, the service was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. She made sure we were well taken care of and even checked on us while we were eating. Overall, I give this place a 5-star rating for the delicious food, great service, and clean, organized environment. We will definitely be returning.
It has been a daunting task to venture out during these uncertain times of Covid-19, but we decided to take the leap and try out Oliven. This restaurant not only offers a variety of Mediterranean specialty foods but also functions as a mini supermarket with a wide selection of chilled, frozen, and stored items. While not all of the options are vegan or vegetarian, the menu is straightforward and includes a few delicious plant-based choices. The staff are knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions about ingredients. We ordered a falafel lavash and a veggie lavash to go, along with some baba ghanoush and extra bread. The grilled veggies were cooked to perfection and the falafels had a great crunch on the outside. It's hard to decide which dish we enjoyed more! We will definitely be returning for more delicious food and goodies in the near future. The restaurant is easily accessible with parking available, but it can get busy during peak times. Overall, Oliven provides a safe and convenient dining experience with their clear perspex dividers at the counter and user-friendly card-swipe system for purchases, as well as the option to order online.
During a road trip, we came across this gem of a restaurant and were delighted by the experience. The owner, who is a very pleasant woman, makes you feel like you're enjoying a delicious homemade meal. We both tried the chicken kebab plate, and were impressed by the tender, juicy, and well-seasoned chicken. The sauces, particularly the white garlic sauce, were also extremely tasty. We might just have to return to purchase a jar of it!
