Very beautiful place, the design is both super and sober, the contemporary mixing with the old part of the building. The kitchen mixes various influences with Sicily tradition. The wine list is still somewhat limited, but this is a small point. Excellent service, very reasonable price for such high standards.
The hotel and restaurant aspire a certain standard which they do not reach. Although the hotel looks beautiful on the surface, the service and quality do not live up to expectations. The breakfast is a good example. After ordering, it took about 30mins for the coffee to arrive. Same for the eggs. This was not a one time occurence, but this happened consistently over the three breakfasts we had there. The problem: understaffing. Due to covid the breakfast process had been changed, but no additional staff had been added. We learned that this was a management decision. Cost savings? However, with guests paying +150eur/night this should not matter. The garden is another example. As long as you stay close to the main building everything looks great and well-maintained, but as soon as you venture beyond the first hedges this changes. Finally, covid-19 measures were often not observed by staff. Is sum, there are similar, but much better value places nearby.
The restaurant which is part of the identically named hotel has not (yet) reached the level of the hotel. The food is ok(ish), however, you will find food of similar quality around the hotel for less money. Service is willing to deliver , but also has some room for improvement...
It's actually a nice, small, quiet hotel with modern rooms and a great pool. However, the rooms are not soundproof, and the restaurant is very noisy due to its architecture and the constant music. Many small things about the service were unpleasant (e.g., no coffee in the room, dirty balcony chair, unprofessional service staff). Breakfast was okay. There was an extra charge for an afternoon cappuccino on the restaurant terrace. At €220 per night for a double room, we expected more.
Gorgeous hotel. Spent two nights here for our anniversary and would absolutely return again, very special. From Catania Airport we took the bus, a train and then a 25 euro taxi organised by the hotel. At the airport taxis will quote you 150 euros for the trip so I really advise the commute. Service was outstanding, special thank you to Giuse who was our waiter and checked everything was gluten free for us and made us feel very welcome. Pool is very cold but stunning views of Mt Etna whilst sunbathing. Get the vulcano pasta starter, it's the best thing on the menu! Very queer friendly hotel.
