we arrived late in the evening in Gérardmer and stumbled on this restaurant in the hope instead of expectation. we had a long day in the car and the children were tired. but we were met with excellent service, wonderful eating and great drinks. eating was simple, but well cooked and the cheese plate was a manifestation. really cheap and exactly what we needed to travel after a long day. What Bertrand Kirlin doesn't like about L'Aubergade:

We go there every year, every time it is less and less well. the service is not professional to the Vosges, we have asked for a beef tartar, yes but there are no fries they are reserved for fried mussels! ah yes and we can't just have a little... I'm gonna see... not possible just salad. A lot of people were disrespectful of the service on the 15th of August I don't know if I'm going to go back.
Carpaccio plate in main dish was served in a dish between and without fries because they were reserved for mussels...and all billed at the high price!!! are they in judicial recovery so that they can not order enough food in a very strong period ...weekend 15 August!!!
At first, everything seemed correct. But many details have taken the stay: in the room, no doors to the toilets but a kind of closet door instead. This hotel was probably renovated but in the short run: the floor cutting around the toilets is not easy, it looks like it was made by an amateur, idem for the finishes. In the morning, the water was barely warm, and when we report the problem to the management, the only answer is "ahh but it's because everyone takes his shower at the same time!" and "I can't do it!" no commercial gesture and a vase response to drown the fish. Breakfast summary. good hotel restaurant but service to review: after eating fish in the entrance, we put the covers on the plate and the waitress did not want to change them! We had to ask for other covers for the next dish. the fish was good but the small vegetables were cold and partially burned. overall, disappointing stay!
Reception and service are O.K. a well-developed map with correct rates. The kitchen is good to advise.
