WMO Cafeteria

This is an average cafeteria. There are hot meals, including vegetarian options, a salad bar, drinks and desserts. There is also a coffee bar in the cafeteria.
The restaurant on the highest floor of the WMO building, in terms of its culinary offer, is simply average for UN agency restaurants. It is not bad and not particularly exciting. It's not public. The main attraction is the large balcony... view (only on one side) of the lake, which is very pleasant in summer. The massive disappointment is the obvious complete lack of environmental policy. Plastic pots and salad boxes are systematically offered and there seems to be no separation at all for recycling. This restaurant could completely eliminate the use of plastics when this is present. For a restaurant in a UN building it is simply scandalous.
There are several cafeterias scattered around the UN buildings in Geneva, but only one with a stunning view! The cafeteria where I work at the International Environment House is consistently rated at the bottom of the bunch, while the WMO cafeteria is in the top...notch category. So whenever I'm able to zoom across town on my bike at lunchtime, I head for the 8th floor, where there's good food, lots of space, and the extraordinary vista across the lake. What have these meteorologists done to deserve such a great place?
We are really sorry, but for safety reasons, the WMO cafeteria is no longer open to the public at noon. Excuse me.
