Upon entering the small cosy restaurant, the sense of warmth was palpable. The female waitress was welcoming, and dispensed important facets of information with professionalism (such as credit cards not being accepted). Mains were excellent, and the schnitzel was done just right. The cake with cream and raspberries was excellent too, highly recommended. The meal was presented in a impeccably decorated room, with maga... View all feedback.
What Roman Gross doesn't like about Herzog's Wirtshaus:
If you are looking for a special night out, go elsewhere! For a casual average meal with average service this was ok. Menu was all handwritten german which even my german friends couldn't read: menu limited and we had to wait ages before our food...came (to be fair they did apologise as a huge group had come in before us... but we had booked some weeks before so really this should have been planned for). If you are looking for Authentic Austrian, this is the place. The schnitzel was outstanding and massive. the spaetzle was creamy, cheesy and addicting.

Would suggest a nice place to take the kids for some Austrian food.
Leicht, aber zu gut
Finally, on a warm summer Monday evening we made it to Herzog's Wirtshaus. We had heard so many good things about the food and the service and that's exactly what we experienced, the fine recommendations from Mrs. Herzog and the very good meals prepared by...her husband. Don't expect a fancy place. It is a Wirtshaus but that's definitely an understatement for this place. Please note, cash only accepted.
Really enjoyed the authentic meal we had here before we headed the short distance to the Schonbrumm Palace for the concert. While the restaurant is a little time wrap it works and creates a sense of peace and tranquility. Our waitress was excellent and explained...the menu in details as it was in German and then assisted us select our wines, allowing us to taste before selecting. Good value for money.
