Nestled in a rural area, Tom's Cabin offers a charming escape for those traveling through. Known for its comforting dishes and friendly small-town service, diners rave about the flavorful Big Boy Burger and biscuits and gravy. While experiences vary, with some noting service hiccups and food inconsistencies, many find the rustic atmosphere and accommodating staff worth the visit. Signature sauces, particularly the cocktail and horsey sauces, are highlights. Though the space is cozy with limited seating, the delightful comfort food keeps patrons coming back for more. Whether for breakfast or lunch, this hidden gem has something for everyone.

Small on the outside, surprisingly comfortable on the inside. Great food, service, atmosphere and desert. Heard about it for years, wish I'd gone sooner. Will definitely make it a destination again. View all feedback.
What Sharon Simmons dislikes about Tom's Cab:
Ladies ate here after an outing. My taco salad was so-so.Crumled meat with melted cheese, really no taco flavor.Wonton pieces instead of nacho chips.Wouldn order again.Other ladies also said just ok lunch. View all feedback.
I was visiting my parents and they wanted to take me here because they had enjoyed it before. We sat down a little before 5pm and ordered our food fairly quickly. We didn't receive our food until almost 6pm. Apparently the French toast for my 2 year old was forgotten and had just been put on the grill when they finally started bringing out our food. The other kids really enjoyed their pancakes. My steak was ordered medium rare but was most definitely well-done and dry. The fried shrimp were overcooked and too crunchy to eat, except the shrimp inside, and all the food was lukewarm. My mom ordered the French dip without cheese or onions but came to the table with onions. My dad ordered the Wimpy burger which he couldn't even eat because it was so overcooked. They both insist that this place is usually better. The waitress was nice and seemed stretched thin. I didn't see another waitress working tables, so she may have been the only one. She offered to do something to make it better, but as it had already taken so long to get out food, we declined as we had already eaten what we could. I would give them another chance as what I could eat was decent. Maybe it was just an off night or new staff??
This location is rural and definitely worth searching out if your north of Star, Boise or on your way west to Oregon on I-84 and follow your GPS. Careful on approach from the west the location is shielded by tall vegetation and best to drive past to a connection street and pull in behind the restaurant for parking. You can access it via an ramp and steps at the rear entrance. I ordered the half portion of Biscuit and gravy with two over easy eggs with coffee to drink. The biscuit was the best this year for me and the flavors were mouthwatering. The young waitress was efficient, friendly, accommodating to our needs and request. Tom's Cabin was busy at the time of our visit but we were in and down the road to our next adventure in no time.
This place 100% reminds me of my childhood in small town Idaho. Small town people running the show, friendly, efficient, clean, food is def like what your grandma makes. This stop was the PERFECT end to a day on the water. Would love to stop again and have breakfast. Strong work!
Great home cooking, friendly waitresses, and homemade pie. my eggs and sausage (breakfast served all day) hashbrowns and strawberry rhubarb pie hit the spot.
