We have been to this restaurant twice in the last month and the food has been fantastic on both occasions. The menu is not extensive but caters for all tastes with both seafood and a variety of other options (burgers / salads etc)Most dishes can cater for Gluten free, which was important for our group. The seafood is possibly the best we have had in Geelong and everything on the menu is reasonably priced. What Terence Bogisich doesn't like about King George Fish And Grill:
Admittedly I thought by the reviews We were going somewhere a little up market, so the let down of laminated colour saturated chain store menu bought me firmly to earth, this is a fish and chip shop serving on plates not paper. Prompt service, but dont bring out mains, when I'm still eating entree! The fish portions where half of what was expected. The taco, needs rethinking. But the sweet potato chips where tasty. Following in the footsteps of many other fish and chip stores, King George Fish and Grill adds a touch of sophistication to gluten free fish and chips. The restaurant overlooks the water at 100 Western Beach Road in Geelong. We tried a few different items on their gluten free menu to see exactly how good they are. ...Read full post on aussiecoeliac.com.au
We live in Geelong for a weekly short vacation and try to try as much dinner as possible - we wore this place as the best restaurant near Eastern Beach after he had tried the others. (Yes, I knew that's a lot of great restaurants outside the beach area, but we love the sea!) Grief The seafood are fresh - seafood plate with reasonable size with decent size. I also recommend to check the special menu on the wall. You also look delicious.
Slow, but friendly service. Beautiful fried food, but greasy to the point of translucency in parts, if you like this kind of things. Food served on small oval metal dishes, some of which is strange to eat. Nice and quiet - away from the loud main strip. Good choice if you have children.
We've always been very satisifed with all of our visits to King George. The service is prompt, attentive and professional, the fish and salads very fresh, and there are now even more gluten-free options. Decent sized servings ensure that no one is ever going to go away hungry, and the drink prices are very reasonable. My dinner partner was also very pleased to receive a beer glass without having to ask, which, sadly, is not so common these days, especially in the more hipster establishments. All in all, an excellent option for casual dining.
Reasonably priced with good size portions. Everything on my plate was fresh and tasted delicious. I could not fault my meal or the service. An absolute must for anyone visiting Geelong.
