Although we have given it 4s 4 and a half would be more accurate. Went for Sunday lunch. It was good and have already recommended it. Tucked away hidden from passing traffic: so it 's very quiet and perhaps not easily found. Plenty of parking rural location. Separate bar and impressively spacious wedding facilities. Criticisms: more toast with your excellent pate please, online menus perhaps a little too cheffy . All... View all feedback.
What Sasha Walker doesn't like about Cockliffe Country House Restaurant:
I recently visited this restaurant and was impressed by the diverse menu selection. The food was tasty, but unfortunately the seating area was uncomfortably hot and musty, possibly due to it being the hottest day of the year. I would recommend choosing a cooler day to dine here. The service was a bit lacking, and the bread (sourdough) and fish were enjoyable. The chips were a bit soggy, which was disappointing. Overa... View all feedback.
We visited a high time and stayed overnight. the negative are that not enough places were set for the breakfast, although it was pre-cooked, then the breakfast was ordered differently, our chalet floor had not chopped spilled stains and there was no welcome package to heat or breakfast etc. to explain. but apart from that, it is a beautiful place, the staff was friendly and remained under pressure, and the hospitable, the whole high time ran smoothly. our bed and main room was clean and warm with a lot. the boiler could want a small note to keep the outlet from the mirror as the steam damaged the frame. many thanks for a beautiful event and visit.
We gave this restaurant a rating of 4.5 stars, but it deserves a full 5. We had dinner there on a Sunday and it was delicious and highly recommended. The location is hidden from the busy traffic, making it quiet and somewhat hard to find. There are plenty of parking spaces in the rural surroundings. The restaurant has a separate bar and impressive, spacious wedding facilities. Some reviewers suggest adding more toast to the excellent pate, and feel that the online menus may be a bit too fancy. Overall, we recommend stopping by for a morning coffee or booking a pleasant meal.

Overall, it was an okay experience, but not one I would necessarily repeat.
The dining room had a touch of elegance, with beautifully set tables. The attentive staff went above and beyond to cater to our needs, bringing us plenty of tea and coffee. The sandwiches were top-notch, the scones were freshly baked, and the desserts were unique and delicious. We definitely plan to return and will be sure to recommend this place to our friends.
We went to Cockcliffe Hotel on a Tuesday noon for my men's birthdays with 2 friends. The place is clean, but quite shottig run down in need of a lot of tlc. We arrived at 12.30 for a pre-booked lunch. There was no one at the reception, but we just waited a few minutes before a young lady appeared to us at the restaurant that was empty at that point. She was very attentive; Take coats, bring menus, etc. After reading on review pages that people have enjoyed lunch menus we were disappointed to discover that there is only the a la carte menu available, and not many choice on this. We had no appetizers than, from the 4 elections, there was nothing we fascinated. There were 4 or 5 choices of the main meal our selected main meal after approx. 15-20 minutes, with which 2 more couples had arrived. I had salmon, the other three in our party had the chicken cake. There were no vegetables or potatoes with the cakes, these had to be bought separately for £2.50 per. My salmon came with a selection of vegetable potatoes. The whole food was delicious: hot, perfectly cooked and, although it didn't seem to be much on the plates with the cakes (the home made full filling, and came in individual dishes) there was enough for my companions along with the additional dishes of frits they had ordered. If they had been big eaters, they should have ordered vegetable dishes. None of us loved the bad selection of sweets offered. Overall for the 4 of us for a 1 course meal, bottle of wine 2 beers we paid £65.0. Although we all enjoyed what we had, I will not come back until the place was decorated, the menu has a better choice, so unfortunately I could not recommend Cockcliffe Hotel currently.
