What shedrgn doesn't like about Gobblers Of Waters:
Definitely miss the old location. Restaurant was bigger, menu was bigger and it was much more convenient. New location only has turkey dishes so if you don't like turkey go elsewhere. We used to go to the Gaylord location every time we went to Gaylord. We decided to try the Waters location, food was good but not worth the extra drive. View all feedback.
Traveling from Bay City to Traverse City, we had to stop here for some take-out. We hadn't been in the area since pre-pandemic; so we were dismayed to learn Gobblers of Gaylord didn't survive the covid crisis (we had eaten there numerous times when traveling around Michigan, in the past). Though this location lacks the atmosphere of the Gaylord facility; it is clean, well-maintained and has a comfortable, local eatery ambiance. The staff efficiently processed our order. We left with with several turkey dinners, and several slices of pie (including the one remaining piece of the nicely indulgent raspberry cream pie). We enjoyed several meals/snacks from our take-out, over the next several days, at our lodging in Traverse City; a little bit of Thanksgiving, and a whole lot of memories.
Nice quiet, family type atmosphere. Weather was bad the day I arrived. Place wasn't busy. Friendly staff. Very attentive. Even though they specialize in Turkey dinners, I ordered the Beef Burrito. Generous sized portion with added chips around the perimeter of burrito. Plenty of sauce, salsa and sour cream. Came out nice and hot. Will eat there again, if schedule permits. They close at 7 pm, so if you're out doing outside activities until dark, you are going to have to find someplace else to eat. Other than that....great place to eat.
The food is soooo good, one of the best places l have ever eaten, turkey dinner is fabulous and the desserts, cookies and brownies are excellent as well, definitely worth the drive over.
I've always gone to the Gaylord location, however since that location closed, the Waters location got it's shot. It has plusses and minuses compared to other location. On the outside it looks almost identical to other location. On the inside there's more room, a plus. The seats and booths are more comfortable, a plus. The inside atmosphere is sterile, a negative. By this I mean the ceiling and walls had tons of knock knacks, license plates and signs, this gave the place great character. This location is also about 15 minutes further away from the cottage, also a negative. I ordered Gobbler Plate, with white meat only $18 plus $1.50). This comes with 12 oz of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, cranberry, and a buttermilk biscuit. I don't like green beans so I got double mashed potatoes. The food was excellent. There was zero different for Gaylord location, a plus. It also came out super quick. The person I was with got same thing except she got all dark meat, no upcharge for that. Plus instead of green beans she got a bowl of cranberries sauce. She also enjoyed the meal. I ordered a slice of pumpkin pie to go $5). I had it that night with some ice cream and caramel sauce. Wow caramel and pumpkin pie go together very well. The pie itself was very good. The service was good. Very friendly, just a little chaotic. I forgive those things now days. Overall a 5 star review. Would I return? Absolutely I love real turkey dinners.
Had the baby plate it was delicious, hot and good. started with the turkey noodle soup, which was outstanding. ended with some homemade cookies. This place is a true gem. EXCELLENT FOOD
