Nawroz is a cafeteria-style restaurant in Gateshead that serves fresh Kurdish cuisine. Nawroz is a cafeteria-style restaurant in Gateshead that serves fresh Kurdish cuisine. The menu is not very extensive, but offers options such as soups, grilled chicken, lamb or kofta, and various sides. I tried the delicious lamb-Qoozy, which was incredibly tender. My husband and son both enjoyed the mixed grill, which came with salad, bread, and soup. With three soft drinks, our bill came to a bargain price of £20.00. The nan bread was amazing and can be ordered for £1.00 for 4 pieces as an extra, or purchased fresh from the Kurdish bakery down the road. Overall, Nawroz and the Kurdish bakery are two great little spots worth checking out.
