The hot dog and vegan options receive mixed reviews, with the hot dog being tasty and the vegan option lacking in flavor. Some reviewers felt the prices were high for the basic dishes served. However, the staff were described as friendly, and the food was well-cooked and presented. The pub has a welcoming atmosphere with outdoor entertainment options and a children's play area. Overall, Lakeside is popular with a good variety of food and drinks, but you may want to book a table in advance due to its popularity.
Family, friendly and modern art bar / restaurant with beautiful exposed brickwork. we ordered the hot dog and vegan fry pile as part of the 2 for £15 mains deal. the hot dog was tasty and of a good texture with very good, twice cooked chips. the vegan roasted bowl, roasted on a plant basis, was disappointing, mushrooms, chips and Bbq sauce and nothing like what I expected. the filets were dry and the mushrooms were cut so thin and very little added to the shell. chips and sauce were good. to say that next time I wouldn't get.
I was on Lakeside on many occasions, private functions Sunday lunch and pizzas etc. I've always been looking for (I'm vegan). Carl the manager is also vegan, so it is soothing when you order vegan food it is what it is especially for private functions or if you go off piste with the menu
Family friendly, dog friendly even when sitting near the bar. I was here when I lived nearby. I tried the vegan hot dog that was very nice, I also had the vegan curry stack that was delicious. The hot dog was delicious and of a good texture, both meals come with chips that are also good.
Family, friendly and modern type bar / restaurant with beautiful exposed brickwork. We ordered the hot dog and vegan roast pile as part of the 2 for £15 Mains Deal. The hot dog was tasty and of a good texture with very good, twice cooked chips. The vegan Brat shell, which was roasted on plant-based fillet strips, mushrooms, chips and Bbq sauce, was disappointing and nothing like what I expected. The fillets were dry and the mushrooms were cut so thin and very little added to the plate. Chips and sauce were good. Sure to say I wouldn't get the next time.
Do not recommend anyone go here. For a start everything is over priced for what you get. The food is very basic and whenever we've been to The Lakeside there has always been something wrong with the food. It's either been a steak that's still frozen in the middle, food has been burnt, we've been given the wrong order or something is missing from our order, the list goes on. Even the drinks are very expensive. It's by no means a city centre pub but they charge the same as a restaurant in the centre of Newcastle. It is so not worth what they charge you I'm afraid. To top it off, the staff have always been extremely rude to us, so we'll never be going back
