The food is good and ok service. GPS can?t find the place but lots of people can. It is popular and fills up. The deck overlooking the Yellowstone River is awesome. Prices are high and would not be paid in a bigger city. However, a small isolated town and great view make it justified. We had Elk Meatloaf and a Ribeye. The ribeye was cooked fine and was good but maybe we should have just gotten the elk meatloaf for ev... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Iron Horse Grill:
Very overpriced and they have a shared plate fee. They also have a policy of no split checks for parties of 4 or more. Not very tourist-friendly, considering some people have smaller appetites and don 't want to pay $17 for a sandwich and fries they won 't eat. I can understand not splitting checks for large parties, but for two couples it should be easy to do. Food was average. View all feedback.
Came by yesterday for sips and views. The food was good, the views were lovely, the service while we were there was good however I got food poisoning from the trout. My mother in law called the restaurant since she paid for the bill to let them know about trout being bad and hopefully receive a refund for my meal. The service she received on the phone was a bit subpar. She was questioned if I ate anything else anywhere else that day. Without getting into too many details as someone who is experiencing food poisoning you can generally tell where the food poisoning is coming from because your body starts to reject it. He also questioned if I eat sea food often (yes I love seafood but what does that have to do with anything)The whole phone call was just a bit disappointing. I don?t know- if I was the manager of a restaurant and received a phone call like this I would assure the customer that I would 1- recheck the food and 2- offer a refund straight away. We still aren?t even sure if we are receiving a refund. Wanted to really rate the restaurant higher but for the price of the food and then the service we received after an issue arose I don?t think I?ll be recommending this particular place again unless you are just stopping by for drinks and a view.
Had the trout and the shepherd's pie. They tasted pretty good. Would have preferred more charred potato on the pie, instead of just mash. -1 star because there isn't much options for for kids, only fries. They could consider adding some kids menu like fish. My kid actually loved the trout. We came here because the Wonderland cafe had a long wait list. There was no wait here.
Good patio if the weather is nice, decent food but pretty high prices. What do you expect though being just outside of the park.
I have never paid more and gotten worse food in the same setting... despite a decent bar the drinks were overpriced and watery. Bison burgers were so expensive (started at $19) and extremely boring/mediocre. The bison Shepard 's pie was $34!! And it was tiny, bland, and had a side of corn slopped on the plate, clearly from a can. Pictured are the parmesan garlic fries which tasted more like sprinkled shredded cheddar cheese with gross ranch sauce or something. I think I ate 3 fries. If our kids and I weren 't starving, and another place open, we would 've went there. I suggest something at the gas station instead if you 're out of options.
Pricey dive bar by the Yellowstone river with great food and service. We arrived here late afternoon and luckily didn?t have to wait. Ordered the rainbow trout, huckleberry BBQ chicken, and bison sirloin. All the dishes were delicious. Staff was courteous and service was super-fast. There is a 20% gratuity for a party of 6 or more. Would definitely visit again if I?m back.
