Pho So 1 - Gardena
Pho So 1
Description
This local pho restaurant presents a mixed bag of experiences. While many diners appreciate the rich and flavorful broth—especially the house special—others find the broth overly salty and the accompanying dishes, like egg rolls, to be bland. Service has been inconsistent, with complaints about staff responsiveness and minor details such as serving tea in styrofoam cups detracting from the dining experience. However, convenient online ordering and early opening hours make it a practical choice for pho lovers. Ultimately, while some are captivated by its offerings, others remain unimpressed, highlighting the restaurant's uneven performance.

It was decent overall. The pho was just average; I've definitely had better broth elsewhere. There wasn't anything particularly exciting about the meal. However, I do appreciate that they open at 8 AM, while my other pho spots don’t open until between 10 and 11:30 AM. All in all, it was simply okay pho.
The pho bowls here are incredible and very satisfying. We always order the #1, which is the house special. The broth and noodles are simply the best! Don't forget to ask for extra noodles, too!
I loved the menu layout! Very user friendly easy to understand. Written in English And vietnamese. Items on the menu were numbered and coincided with an image of that dish! Plus evening was priced around $11.50! The soups were cheaper. Example I had a number 67: Marinated CHICKEN with FRIED RICE and raw vegetables. However when the 'Tiny ' chicken came it was NOT CHICKEN! it was a CORNISH GAME HEN! with a lot of small bones.. it Tasted fine. The size of the Fried HEN was about the size of a CHICKEN BREAST, However, More bones than meat. It was good though. Plus I 'm sure it helps keep prices down. It lasted a couple hours before I was hungry again. In closing: when I order CHICKEN I expect to see CHICKEN! Other than that were good.. Kenneth
I’ll preface this by saying that pho has a special place in my heart. The marriage of the rich, savory broth with the silky, smooth rice noodles would even make Barack and Michelle jealous. In short, PS1’s twist and take of pho delivers. They are very generous with the serving and the broth will fill any empty holes in your heart. Be prepared to drink a lot of water a couple of hours after this experience, but don’t you sign up for that anytime you eat pho?
