The hostess/server was very friendly and we were seated immediately around noon. We ordered the chicken taco salad, which had flavorful chicken, finely chopped lettuce, and fresh toppings. The flour tortilla was a bit thicker than we would have liked. The frozen margarita was served over ice and was a bit too sweet for my liking. Overall, it was a good dining experience. What User doesn't like about El Zarape Mexican:
This restaurant is perfect for those who enjoy Mexican food with American ingredients. The salsa is of good quality, but it can be bought at Dillons. It's better to go buy some salsa and cook your own meal. View all feedback.
This place isn't Mexican it's more Tex-Mex. The salsa is a sauce if you want anything besides the mild it cost you. The food is ok I've had better and worse. The beans are canned and the rice taste like it came from a rice a roni box. Service is good but the person cleaning tables needs to slow down and clean the table! I watched them clean several tables an not once did I see anything sprayed on the table just a rag and wipe on to the floor. An the Same rag wiped the seats before the table! I wouldn't go here again even if it was free! Not a clean freak but it should be cleaned properly. Not sure how it stays in business unless the locals just overlook it. Cause it was steadily busy.
Hometown favorite, a must stop for travelers locals looking for authentic Mexican food! This family has been getting it right all my life and I'm 50!
I eat on el zarape since I was on a high chair! I'm 36! is a must n everything else;
Great food. good prices. great service. be careful because eating is spicey!
I have been dining at EL ZARAPE for as long as I can remember. It remains the top Mexican restaurant in the world. I have been consistently ordering the same dish for 25 years and have never been let down. The staff is incredibly friendly and the food is phenomenal. I typically dine in for dinner and the price per person ranges from $10 to $20. The food receives a 5-star rating from me, while the service and atmosphere both receive a 4-star rating. I highly recommend trying the Cheese Dip, Taco Salad, Chips and Salsa, and Bean Dip. There is plenty of parking available, with the option of free parking in the lot.
