So nice to see this quaint down-home style cafe thrive in the area. Since we last visited, Billy has expanded his restaurant. When we visited, a tour bus with visitors from New York had arrived so it was very busy and service was a little slower. We understood and we were not busy anyway. The food is always worth the wait here anyway! Definitely a place to grab a bite if you are in the area! View all feedback.

Great homestyle food and well worth the detour off the highway for a lunch stop if you're driving across the island. The former general store atmosphere is very quaint, and the staff are very friendly.
We stopped for a lunch and were thrilled with the kindness of the host and staff and with the delicious, generously portioned food. A fabulous meal and one we would certainly repeat.
We met owner Billy as soon as we walked in the door, and immediately noticed the unique general store/cafe decor. Billy told us the story of how he inherited the store and had it moved to its present location, then added the cafe. We had traditional Newfoundland turkey dinners with the added touch of pickled beets and mustard pickle. The whole meal was absolutely delicious and the best turkey dinners we have had on this visit to Newfoundland. Then we followed that up with very decadent Carmel cheesecake. Billy is a talented chef and the food was extraordinary. Add to that his friendly story-telling ability, with information about the history of Gambo, and we had a very enjoyable meal. If you are in the Gambo area, it is worth seeking out this unique cafe.
We found this cafe on a walk. it was absolutely rewarded and it was a good experience with carrot cake. . you are very nice here and the crämerladen puts you back by 20 years, but very cozy cafe
