Always very happy here! Very good quality, value and nice bakery in the back. Texas blue crab cakes are fantastic. ALSO!! Prudent Covid precautions, we felt no to very low risk dining View all feedback.
What perkypuzzlepiece doesn't like about The Sunflower Bakery Cafe:
The food is made for the older population no seasoning I used to love this place but the last 3 times it was beyond disappointing for the price point I could taste the fridge n my meat View all feedback.
The food and service were both excellent. We tried the barbacoa omelet and the challah French toast, and they were absolutely delicious. We also picked up some cookies and buttermilk pie from the bakery.
We had French toast and the Big Breakfast, which included scrambled eggs and bacon. The French toast was fantastic! The Big Breakfast was quite good as well. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly, and the breakfast potatoes were excellent. The pancakes were nice too, and I detected a hint of cornmeal in them, which I personally enjoy. They were a bit tougher than I prefer, but that’s just my personal taste; they were still delicious, and I nearly finished them all. The bacon was meatier than my usual preference, but it was well-cooked—not burnt or undercooked in spots. My only real complaint is that they serve soda in cans; I prefer fountain drinks when dining out. Our waiter was very attentive and courteous, and our order was correct, arriving within just a few minutes. I definitely plan to return when I’m next in Galveston, whether for breakfast or a pastry snack.
This restaurant offers an excellent breakfast! There are plenty of dessert and pastry choices to satisfy your sweet cravings. The atmosphere is inviting, and it's conveniently located near the Strand and the seawall. Prices are very family-friendly as well.
We (my husband, 2yo, and me) ate in the restaurant side. Coffee was decent, food was good, service was fine. We had the bread pudding French toast, challah French toast, and the kids pancake plate. Bread pudding had raisins and to me tasted like riaisns were blended up and stirred in so the whole thing tasted like raisins. Not my cup of tea, buty husband liked it fine. I enjoyed the challah French toast and the kiddo demolished his pancake. We also got in there before the rush at about 945am on a Saturday.
If you’re visiting Galveston beach, do not get scammed by the tourists traps. Come here to Sunflower bakery and cafe! We went to numerous places on the water and had a terrible meal and service at each one. Today we decided to try a place not on the water. The food is made from scratch, fresh and flavorful. We had a mixture of breakfast and lunch and were not disappointed with a single thing! It was worth every penny and then some. Please find your way here if you are visiting, it is well worth it!
