Little Daddy's Gumbo Galveston

This restaurant was just right for a chilly day on the island. The chicken and sausage dish featured a rich dark roux and was seasoned just right. The gator and fried pickles were served hot and crispy. The garlic bread was great for dipping into the generous bowl of gumbo. Our waitress was attentive and kept our drinks filled. The food arrived hot and fairly quickly. They did forget my order of sweet potato fries, but honestly, I didn't have any room for them anyway.

Instead of ordering main courses, we opted for four appetizers, and I think that was a smart choice because it allowed us to sample more of the menu. When the food arrived, everything was delicious. We tried fried oysters, shrimp cocktail, gumbo, and jambalaya, and it was all amazing. The prices were quite reasonable for what we received: two large mixed drinks, two beers, four tasty appetizers, and a T-shirt, all for around $100. Not bad at all! Overall, I'd eat here every day if I could.

I have to admit, I’m a fan of Cajun food, and the spicier, the better! I wasn’t disappointed with my dishes today. Keep in mind that the portions are quite large, especially the gumbo bowls. The chicken and sausage gumbo was rich and flavorful, with a deep, dark color. I was a bit surprised to find an oyster or two in my bowl since I usually expect that in a less authentic version or mixed seafood dish. Regardless, it was excellent gumbo. A couple of bottles of hot sauce on the table made it just right for my taste. I also ordered a Fried Shrimp Po' Boy after some consideration. It was good, but didn’t quite make it to my top twenty list—which is a shame! Next time, I’ll try a platter, and yes, I will definitely be back.

Really good food. I ordered the fried gator and the chefs special along with the shrimp gumbo appetizer. Loved it all but I would recommend passin on the gumbo. I was expecting a bowl of it and what I got was the equivalent of a large shot glass (Itook the photo pretty close so it looks bigger than it was) Tough times I suppose, anyways save yourself the $8 and choosesomething else. Service was good, food was delicious, highly recommend. Literally wiped my plate clean ????

Cons: Finding parking is a bit of a hassle anywhere down there especially on weekends. They didn't serve our food at the same time. I had to wait about 5 minutes longer. It didn't bother me, but this may be a concern for those coming in with a group ofpeople. Pros: It was a very good experience I had with my dad the food was really good. I ordered the Hangover Burger and mydad ordered the Gumbo Shrimp Platter. They have a bar, tv, and the customer service was good. The food tasted better thanexpected. I don't like Cajun food, but there appetizers with the shrimp, sausages, and rice was delicious. Overall: I recommendthis place. 5 out of 5 stars. The customer service was great refilling my water without me asking and very polite. It was thefood that really did it for me. I rarely like Cajun food or fried food, usually stay at home and cook my own meals, so I'm gladI found a place to go eat that I know can deliver on taste.
