Sweet Things
Description
A charming specialty chocolate shop in Smithville offers eye-catching displays and a tempting roster of treats—fudge, truffles, caramel apples, chocolate-covered pretzels and affordable marshmallows—with standout items like dark chocolate raspberry pretzel cups. Customers praise flavor and presentation but note inconsistent quality (stale or swapped items), occasional order errors, and unwelcoming service; a sign about not enforcing masks/vaccination may deter some. Best to double-check orders and keep purchases from melting on the trip home.

There are two specialty chocolate shops, and we chose this one for a couple of reasons. First, they offer chocolate-covered marshmallows for just $1.50, which is a saving of 50 cents! Second, their dark chocolate raspberry-covered pretzel cups are truly unique. Just be sure to keep your treats from melting on your way home!
I've always had a passion for chocolate since I was a child. My all-time favorite treats are Reese's Peanut Butter Cups—especially the originals, Big Cups, and those rich holiday-themed trees and pumpkins! I also adore chocolate-covered pretzels and nonpareils. When I spotted the chocolate cornucopia, I was practically drooling and so tempted to buy it (the picture really doesn't do it justice!). If Thanksgiving hadn't just passed, I definitely would have purchased one! Instead, I went with four chocolate-covered sea salt pretzels, and they were absolutely DELICIOUS! To top it off, I ran into some old neighbors right behind me in line, which was a lovely surprise!
We spent nearly $40 here and when we got home, we discovered that half of our order was incorrect. Instead of the two giant milk chocolate peanut butter cups we ordered, we received two white chocolate ones, which was disappointing. Our chocolate raspberry Oreo crumb treat was swapped out for an odd white chocolate Oreo crumb dessert that we didn't expect. The one Oreo crumb treat that the employee got right tasted old and stale. The fudge and truffles were the only highlights of our experience; however, the fudge she described as rich chocolate flavor was actually mixed with coffee flavoring, which was unappealing as well. If you decide to visit this restaurant, be sure to double-check your order, and steer clear of the stale Oreo crumb cups.
I was very put off by not only the lack of greeting by the only person working in an empty store, but a long winded sign stating that they aren 't asking for vaccination status or enforcing masks. The this is America, home of the free really didn 't sit well with me either. Selection isn 't that great either.
