It was getting close to 2pm we stopped at several differen... read more My wife I had just finished touring some of the attractions in Gallipoli. We were hot, tired, hungry. It was getting close to 2pm we stopped at several different restaurants, knowing that it was close to afternoon quitting time. Both of them lackadaisically said they could seat us outside (with several open tables within view inside), and after putting our names on the waiting list, left. You could tell they were intentionally avoiding us, undoubtedly because it was afternoon extended break/siesta time. My wife asked a local produce man for his dining recommendation, he hurriedly walked us about two blocks away to Mare Navicula. We were greeted promptly by a restaurant employee seated immediately, despite the fact that it was closing time. The place was extremely busy there was only one other table open. The service at this dining spot was simply superb. We ate well, and for a very reasonable price. The food was quite good, and the staff hustled around the place and visibly worked very hard. Never the less, they were all quite amiable. There are a lot of great restaurants in Gallipoli, but at Mare Navicula you'll get good food for a good price with outstanding service.

We are pleased that we just went by and recognized the good feeling that the people and place send! Sooner we found out that they even fish their own food.

We tested every kind... read more Excellent Seafood Experience at Mārē Navicula in Gallipoli We had dinner at Mārē Navicula last night and it was an outstanding experience. We tested every kind of fish both raw fish and cooked the fish. It is a local authenticity and flavor. Starters were delicious and we ate the famous gambero viola (violet prawns from Gallipoli). We have appreciated the extraordinary kindeness of the staff The pasta pasta with mussels was good. We felt as at home. Portions are generous, prices are reasonable for the quality. Thanks for everything. Hoping to cone back soon!
