The fine dining in a casual atmosphere was great. The food was delicious. The staff was attentive and smiling! We went back the next night and enjoyed it just as much. It has a really friendly Montana ranch feel. The presentation was top notch! View all feedback.
What Frank Dohms doesn't like about Mcgill's Saloon:
We picked this place because of the location and atmosphere. But the menu on their website was very out of date. When we arrived they only had a limited menu. They weren't serving what we drove and hour for. The food and drink that we did end up getting was poorly made and mediocre. I would have rather stayed in, and saved $120 on a dinner for 2. Five star location and atmosphere, two star food. View all feedback.
This was probably the best restaurant we ate at on our vacation in terms of food and service. I would consider it on the finer side of dining without the need to completely dress us. I still wore jeans and a nice top, but my kids wore shorts. The service was top notch. My kids ordered the Mac and cheese, but they weren't a fan of it being finished off in a broiler. I never said anything. I was capable of picking off the tiny little burned pieces, but as the chef was making his rounds he noticed the kids weren't eating it and asked what was wrong. When they told him he completely remade the mac and cheese and made it creamy with no burned pieces. My kids were so thrilled. When we left they hugged the chef. Lol. That kind of attention isn't typically given to kiddos when we go out, and I really appreciated it. I also had the best huckleberry margarita, and my oldest son and I split the bone in rib eye. It was AMAZING!
We were staying at the ranch and looking forward to dinner especially after seeing how good their breakfast was. However, we were beyond disappointed when every meal that we had came out bland and/or incorrect. It turns out that the main cook was tending to a wedding on site so there was someone else covering. It ruined the experience so much that they would have been better to close the restaurant for the evening than to disappoint all their patrons. All around us we saw plates getting sent back so it wasn’t just us either. I’m willing to give them another shot but it was really a terrible dinner. Only positive was how Sidney (our server) handled the mess that she was dealt. I hope this was just an isolated incident so we’ll see next time we’re back.
I'm sorry to say, food was actually terrible. We ordered 2 appetizers, salad drinks. Salad might of been good and fresh a day or 2 earlier. Appetizers were not good; shrimp w/chorizo and wild mushroom onions, the huckleberry mojito was not good as well. We ate 1/2 of what we ordered paid our bill and left. So disappointing the food DID NOT equal the price. I would suggest to try another restaurant.
We waited over one hour for a hamburger and a chicken sandwich. Two other tables that arrived after we did were taken care of. After I talked to the manager, we received our food. Tasted like it was on the grill the entire time we waited. Poor service, dried up food. Carlisle, Pa
We've had Christmas Eve dinner reservations booked since October 1st. Our family goes to McGills every Christmas Eve for their sleighride and dinner. Last night they went for the sleigh ride and dinner, only to find out they closed the restaurant for the winter. They never informed us of this change to let us know they decided to close down for the season. Needless to say, we had nowhere to go for Christmas Eve dinner with such late notice and no reservations. I'm super disappointed in 320's/McGill's management for leaving us out to dry on Christmas Eve.
