Recommended by a friend, and have to say, was superb. We both had the Beef Wellington, crammed with pulled and very tasty beef, lovely smooth mash and mixed veg that were cooked to perfection. Looking forward to returning, probably a Tuesday, as it is 30% off the food, which makes it great value. Nice staff and good atmosphere. Highly recommend. View all feedback.
What Francesca Jackson doesn't like about Ship Inn:
This place has gone downhill rapidly. Recent visit was very disappointing. The food was poorly cooked and definitely not fresh. Fish and chips seemed to be out of the freezer. Sea bass salad was bland and the sea bass was very overcooked. Had to wait...ages for one of the meals for one of our party. Everyone else had nearly finished. Expensive considering the distinctly average food. Nice location and the interior is... View all feedback.
Went today for the first time and it's a beautiful pub with lovely views and great staff. Cannot fault the pub itself but the gentleman behind the bar who I think is the landlord comes across a bit arrogant apart from that beautiful place.
Nothing special like I’d been told. Burger I ordered was nothing like the kind of burger you’d expect in a country pub, was like a greasy takeaway burger. Fries instead of proper chips. Staff seem generally disinterested. Wouldn’t return.
Visited for mother's day lunch. Food was faultless, can't wait to eat here again. Great service and overall, a lovely pub with a nice relaxing environment.
Stumbled across this fabulous little pub. Beautiful decor, lovely views, delicious food and very very welcoming and polite staff. Our four month old pup was also welcomed with cuddles. Our moving from outside to inside was no problem at all once we realised it was still too chilly outdoors and our request to be in a more secluded area of the pub so that our puppy wasn’t distracted or jumping with others around was happily accommodated. We had the steak baconnaise sandwich which was delicious with tender steak and absolutely no chewiness! We honestly could not fault the place or the service and will be returning frequently now that we have discovered this fab little spot. Many thanks to all of the staff.
I was looking forward to going to the Ship as not been for years but was very disappointed. I had Cheese Pie which read well on the menu LANCASHIRE CHEESE PIE (v) Short crust pastry, house chutney, hand cut chips, apple walnut salad . It was basically cheesy mashed potato in a small pie dish topped with pastry. The salad was ok, the chips were good but not home made which hand cut implies. I ate it all as I was hungry but for £15 it was not value for money. My friend had Shepherd 's Pie, £17, SHEPHERD’S PIE Mashed potato, crumbly Lancashire cheese, minted peas, pickled beetroot . She was equally disappointed, the filling was padded out with frozen vegetables and she had to send it back as it was cold. A glass of wine was £8, a coffee £4, a lime and soda £1.80. Total cost £45.80. Both of us were disappointed and it certainly wasn 't value for money. It 's not hard to do Shepherd 's Pie or Cheese Pie well, both simple dishes which both of us are capable of cooking at home, to a much higher standard I might add, but it 's nice to have someone else cook for you. Not at that price though. Neither of us will return. The pub has a good ambience, decor is pleasing, it was clean, the young staff were pleasant and attentive. It was just the quality of the food that let it down.
