***The location is incorrect on tripadvisor map, but its only a few mins walk away, google maps has correct location***We had some tea and ice cream which were all fine and service was good. Its right next to a stream and you can sit outside on deckchairs, it was very relaxing. Worth a visit.
O Chalet da Tia Mercês é um local simpático e acolhedor onde pode degustar um tradicional chá da Gorreana e uma queijada das furnas.
When they make a culinary experience on sao miguel, they make it this. if I could give him 6 stars, I would. first a warning that this is not a caffe in which they can go, this is a private and personal eating and tee adventure.! make sure they reserve in advance to go the chance. we chose the Geothermie-Tee brunch and enjoyed the beautiful environment to us, in an old badehaus right next to the caldeiras in furnas. the tee was made with the hot swell water directly outside the building and the whole food was cooked in the floor with heat. paula was the most fabulous and knowledgeable host who spoke to us about everything from the history of the azor, about volcanic cooking methods to the scientific and healing properties of the waters. they showed us how the minerals in the water reacted with the green tea to make it a beautiful color of purple and explained the cooking methods and local ingredients of everything we ate. Eating, it was a veritable hard so to make sure that they come hungry, with a broth, cheese and jam cure, a main meal of a cooked two-burner plate I don't think I ever wrap around my thoughts, how magical this is! it followed either a coffee or a kind of "hot toddy" with the hot swell water, cinnamon, honey and alcohol. there are many other experiences of royal tea dinners, tee or water master classes and azoren tasting menus. I'd like to go back and try another one. paula is pleased to see her again, thank you!
Paula had our 20 person group for a mixed high tea experience, and it was absolutely the highlight of our time. as someone knows the island better than most tourist, I was explained by the gastronomic history and guides to the unique properties of sao miguel and the azoren ecology. the tea, the food pairing, the wine and the cake were excellent and thoughtful. paula is not only an unbelievable guide for these elements, but also an incredible scholar who makes amazing work that enriches the azor culture. they represent the best of people they will meet. it is a must in sao miguel .. learn, taste, see. it makes me proud to have the azorian inheritance. Note: the chalet is not just a place to eat. it is a cultural sign, with eating and drinking.
Una experiencia única y un trato de primera en el chalet da tia mercês. en la isla se torna frente a tus en un hermoso tono violeta al entrar en contacto con el agua geotérmica que recolectan de una de...las paredes de esta violetusiva casita de té. nos encantó el brunch geotermal jo el cual constaba de postre un delicioso bizcocho de chocolate y otro de naranja gluten free cocido en suelo volcánico. huevos, chorizo y verduras cocidos a la caldera. y para terminar un caffe con sabor terrenal elaborado con agua termal. no dejen de visitar este espacio tan especial. a unique experience and a first-class treatment in the chalet da tia mercês. the green tea produced on the island turns before its eyes in a beautiful violet shade when it comes in contact with the geothermal water that it collects from one of the walls of this exclusive teahouse. we loved the brunch geotermal that consisted of padre josé thermotee (violet tee). gluten-free sweet potato bread and another with geothermally steamed cheese served with geothermal jam and local cheese. dessert, a delicious chocolate cake and another gluten-free orange cake, which is boiled in the volcanic soil. cooked in a boiler, chorizo and sweet. and finish a coffee with an earthly taste with thermal water. one must travel to furnas.
The food, the drinks, the staff and the place are all very, very good. We spent about three hours here we had great tea and food while enjoying the wonderful view from the terrace and the service by the extremely friendly staff. We spent...five days in Furnas and this was our favorite spot. Make sure you don't miss when you are in Furnas!
