O Lagarto - Fundão

Typical regional Portuguese food, great meats and other local dishes like codfish and black pork. Amazing service and good value for money

After a visit to the river beach, my friend and I discovered O Lagarto. We ordered the borrego but, unfortunately, they had only one serving left and I was disappointed. I chose the mixed meat and rice for myself. Our orders were served in no time. The dishes were typical Portuguese and we enjoyed our meal.

Traditional food with some special touches, like cherry sweet and acid sauce on the side. Meat and vegetables from the region masterly cooked. Great desserts but lacking a lactose free option. Service is effective and nice. Additionally the village is very beautiful! Worth the detour

It's the only restaurant in Castelo Novo. It's usually crowded and you don't get a choice. The food is fair but the menu is very limited. The girl that greeted and sat us was very nice, but our waiter was quite rude. After her sitting us he didn't even bring us the menu. Another waiter from across the room eventually noticed it and brought it himself. When my wife and I made our choices, it turned out both dishes were not available that day (Why did they keep them in the menu then? Why didn't they tell us in advance? . I ordered a lemon ice-tea and the waiter brought mango. When I told him he insisted I ordered mango and was quite rude. They're closed for dinner.
