A small bar at the end of the road leaving the old town. We found it by a lucky accident were tempted in by the beer burger offer at E3.90-we were not disappointed as the food service was really good. View all feedback.
We passed this in the evening on our way home and it seemed to be very busy with locals, which was a good sign. The following day we returned and were the only customers. It is a tiny bar in the old town. The lovely gentleman behind the bar spoke very limited English but we managed to order water, beer and wine. We were presented with fish paste on tiny toast and then braised chicken. Very well priced drinks and a lovely atmosphere. Our host closed the doors when we left so we could take a photo, painted doors are a feature of this neighbourhood. Would definitely recommend.
Another surprise find. Great beer service and food. In old town 3 tables but so friendly and locals happy to share. Very accommodating. Food freshly cooked.

We found this bar while trying to get away from the pestering restaurant owners on the main street. What lovely people we found in staff and local customers. Made us so welcome we didn't eat here but were fed small plates of delicious mackerel and garlic bread. The lady behind the bar gave us her phone so we could put some music on that we liked and then the people danced with us.When we went back another night they all recognised us and we had another lovely night.
If you want to escape the tourist crowd, 50m from it. And enjoy a real Madeirian bar: this is the place!
