The prawns were dry and... read more Since we are based for part of the year in Madeira I am normally delighted by our meals out. Not this lunch. I had avocado with prawns. The prawns were dry and not fresh. I didn’t eat them and said I was unhappy with the quality to the waiter. He just shrugged and gave me the full bill. Don’t let them have your custom. There are so many places to have fab and fresh food. Not worth giving them your custom.

The s... read more This restaurant/snack bar is on the main drag of Funchal town, resulting in and lot of customer walk ins. We visited the snack bar for a quick bit to eat. The staff were friendly but the restaurant is sadly disappointing. It looks very tired and not particularly clean. The food was ‘ok’ but no more. Given the number of beautiful eateries around it pales into insignificance in comparison. We wouldn’t visit again.

Wrong drinks order arrived and even after we asked for ice, none arrived. The food was average at best, sardines and a tuna salad. Little imagination about good service was on offer. I think most customers were there to watch a soccer match that was just starting on tv. There are better places for lunch.

The accompanying vegetables (carrots, green beans, and potatoes) simply cooked with a little butter and garlic were welcome as much of the food I have been eating has been very rich. Service was good.
