Hotel du Commerce - Fumay

This is the type of location that quickly disappears from small towns in all france: a reliable, restaurant in a family-run hotel on the main square where they can be sure to have a good lunch at a reasonable price. they know that it will be good because the place full of local workers is not long after midday. come later and they may have to wait a long time for a table when the plate du jour is still, that is. rocroi is a fortified city surrounded by ancient city walls, not far from where Champagne-Ardenne meets the Belgian border. it is practical to know whether they are in this part of the world because the boulangerie is open all day to Sunday on the main square (only opposite the hotel du commerce). the people do not come to the commerce for minimalist up-to-date decor or Michelin-starred cook. they come for the solid French clips (coq au vin, terrine de campagne, choucroute, and bavette-frites) cooked with this unique French fusion of respect for tradition, culinary competence and love. there are other options good options available in rocroi. but the trade is the real thing, and somewhere at a time when so many similar businesses disappear quickly in whole france.

Franchement rien à dire sur le restaurant tout était bon peut être les assiettes un peu légère (pas assez fourni) les scampis sont excellents

Rocroi is a beautiful feodale city. after a good walk they feel hungry. in the middle of the village on the main square is the hoel du commerce. the building is quite old, the midday room is from another age, but the service. is beautiful and efficient and eating is delicious. all at a reasonable price. after a whole day of visits and walks, this luch stop was a good surprise. it must be emphasized that biker are welcome.

Le plat ptincipal était bon.Petit bémol : un bout de salade dans la mousse au chocolat (café gourmand cher au passage)La serveuse a été averti mais ne elle ne sait pas excusée pour autant... juste dit je vais avertir la cuisine...Peut être refaire la salle de restauration...

We enjoyed the hospitality of the manager. before visiting the fortification rocroi we wanted to have a good breakfast, even if not hotel guests. the manager welcomed us as if we were vips. the breakfast menu was perfect and delicious. the service was. friendly and efficient. hotel du commerce is a really recommended place in the heart of rocroi within the historic city center. two very good bakeries are located on the same place: we bought in both of them our delicious sandwiches, quiches and tarts for picnic.
