First time eating at this location and it didn’t disappoint! Quick and friendly service paired with a good atmosphere and music. Food was top tier best Mexican I’ve had in a while! Highly recommend if you’re craving Mexican food check this spot out View all feedback.
What Sarah Sands doesn't like about El Meson:
Dirty table wiped clean with a dry napkin. Dirty straw. Dirty glass with melted ice in the tea. Salsa was mostly tomatoes sauce. Chips were hard. No salt to put on them. Practically no service at all. I never complain so that I get the best service for honest reviewing. I honestly didn 't like anything today. My hubby did say that he liked the cheese sauce. We love El Meson in Hixson and thought it would be the same.... View all feedback.
The staff were friendly and the food was good. We shared fajitas and there was more than enough for two.
We walked in and got seated. Waited over 5 minutes and watched another table seated after us. Never acknowledged us and saw plenty of servers sitting right beside us. The place was dark and dirty. The menus were nasty as well. We left and giving them a 1 star. They don't even deserve that.
I can’t eat here bcuz of allergies but my friends like the food. Great prices for brunch, but someone didn’t tell that the “bottomless” mimosas weren't bottomless and charged money. Nice environment on patio. The guy didn’t seem to know what he was talking about and gave terrible service. When asked about the extra charge, my friend was talked over and wouldn’t let him talk and was disrespectful towards him.
If you've ever wanted to eat on the set of TOUCH OF EVIL (1958 , this may be your chance I kept waiting for Marlene Dietrich to pop out of the kitchen and offer me some chili! As far as atmosphere, this is probably one of the most authentic looking Mexican restaurants I have ever encountered. The architecture and decor everywhere are superb it's like eating in a Mexican theme park Food: I had the three tacos with rice meal and it was delicious. (It did seem a bit pricey, though, for what I would consider a fairly basic"meal. My two biggest issues with EL MESON are: #1. The customer service: Virtually non existent. (I lost track of the number of times I had to get up to find my waiter. Not really sure what the root of this problem is, as I was one of the few people in the restaurant, as it was between mealtimes. Regardless, I got the distinct impression I was being intentionally ignored. #2. And like Orson Welles making his way through Venice, California with an enormous trail of debris following him, this restaurant is rather dirty And when I say DIRTY, it is in a very, VERY obvious way like no one who works there really cares even THE MENUS are filthy There is trash everywhere power drink cans left behind by guests on the ledges and tables, tables not even bussed even after the guests have left some time ago. Even the exterior of the building is dirty, with trash in the parking lot, tucked into the bushes and laying on the lawn all around the facility. (No one has evidently checked their building exterior or landscaping in quite some time. Just a general aura of apathy which is not conducive to a return visit. (Except for THE BAR, of course where the patrons are probably too drunk to care, either . . .
Terrible service, and even worse food as of recent. We have been frequent customers and love the margaritas but the food is another issue. Unedible food and lack of customer concern will turn this restaurant on its head.
