Customer service was exceptional, waitress was very attentive which is why I will be giving a 3 star review for my meal. But I was not impressed with my breakfast. It was my first time, so I will give the benefit of the doubt and try one more time. Everyone is entitled to a bad day.... I cannot speak for the guest that was with me, although I will admit I noticed during our meeting that her meal took an exceptionally long time. (I arrived and ate before she did)I have been working in the restaurant industry for over 20 years and I have to say those were the worst hashbrowns served with breakfast I have ever eaten. Hands down the worst. 3 weeks later and I still feel the same way. The only way I can explain them is if you were to take pre-made frozen French fries, over cook them in old oil, and then chop them up and serve. No flavour, no spices. My eggs Benny was missing flavour from the hollandaise sauce, and my eggs were "slimy".
A recent family get together brought us to the Village of Fruitvale where we stayed at the Villagers Inn. Simmer Down Cafe was the restaurant attached. We ate there three days in a row and received attentive friendly service each time. The menu is extensive and we enjoyed the food we ordered. I would highly recommend the mushroom soup especially! A special thank you to our servers who had to deal with large tables each time we came in.
I have sampled a few dishes from the menu and I am overall satisfied. The fish and chips are amazing, even for those from the West Coast. This restaurant is a fantastic choice for a meal.
I went to this restaurant for dinner after cross country skiing. The food was tasty and reasonably priced. However, there was a lack of communication between the chef and the waitress, resulting in the sides not being served at the same time as the main dish.
