What Natalia Eder doesn't like about La Cène:
We went with high expectations. The place is much bigger than we had realised. We had the surprise menu. The presentation was excellent as was the service. The cooking, however, was not very imaginative and two of the courses were almost cold. The wine prices are typical for Switzerland and I admit to disliking paying CHF85 for a bottle I can buy for CHF22. Others have said La Cène is the finest restaurant in Fribour... View all feedback.
Schöner Teller, leckeres Essen, exzellenter Service ... Ambiente 5 Sterne für ein romantisches Abendessen oder eine Geschäftsreise ...
If for nothing other than a grown-up, stylish place to grab a drink with some friends, you should give La Cène a try...but you really should think about staying for dinner. After a first look at the menu, I was convinced I wouldn't be dining at La Cène that evening, but the waitress and the kitchen were so unbelievably accommodating when I asked if they could offer something without meat I couldn't help but be impressed. Though there were no meat-free options on the menu, the kitchen came up with four different suggestions in a matter of minutes. La Cène has the feel of a big city lounge bar as you enter, followed by a uniquely arranged dining area. The wait staff was friendly, helpful and present without being overbearing.

The food was excellent and the interior of the restaurant was very pleasant. In this bilingual city, the staff could not speak English or German. There were people in our group who could speak French as the second language (fortunately), but the staff ignored questions in German and English, which in my humble opinion was quite rude.
A very nice gourmet restaurant with a very reasonable price-performance ratio. Especially for lunch where you would get a 5-course menu with CHF 55. Everything was very good. The only dish that disappointed us was the game... something too salty. Courteous service and good wine list. I'd go back there the next time I went by Fribourg.
