Plantage Restaurant & Biergarten

My favourite Biergarten in Freising, in the middle of the forest.

I stopped here for a snack and a beer during a loop hike around the town of Freising. The Weihenstephan Brewery was also on the route. Friendly and helpful staff. Inexpensive snak options. Relaxing place. Lots of families with kids.

This is a nice beergarden which can be found if you leave Freising in direction to Haidhausen. A few hundred meters behind the end of the city you turn left and follow the way (at the right side of which you can park your car) until you reach the "Plantage". There is a big playground for the kids with a football ground, an e-car track and several play devices like rocker, swing, etc. Around the beergarden there are lots of walks and nature trails in the wood with playgrounds and special places to do excercises.The beergarden has lots of ale-benches below big trees and some in the open space, with or without parasols. There is a building with a big counter which is splitted into food and beverages. You can order all kind of typical beergarden food like sausages, french fries, half chicken, salads, Obatzta (cream-cheese) and Pretzels, etc. There is also a small hut where they do fish-barbequeue with trouts and mackerel on wooden sticks which is called "Steckerlfisch" (stick-fish).On sunday there is live-music playing all kind of music (depending on the band).This is my favorite beergarden around Freising.There is also a little building with a restaurant in it. However, I never used it so far.
