Contribute FeedbackWe went to Kartoffelhaus on a summer evening, which allowed us to sit outside, which I would definitely recommend, as the inside of the restaurant is not very pretty. Contrary to some of the reviews here, we were met with excellent service, friendly waiters and...our food arrived quite fast, even though the restaurant was packed. The food is a little too pricy for what it‘s worth, even though it was very tasty.
Tough decision as to whether to give this place a try as some reviews were quite negative especially regarding the service. But we were so pleased we decided to give it a go. On a rainy October night the place was warm and welcoming...and the service, from the moment we walked through the door, was excellent. The food was delicious. I had the shnitzel with the green Frankfurt sauce and crispy fried potatoes and we were served with a great salad as starters without ordering it. The waiter recommended a very nice white wine and we came back for more. Vanilla ice cream was served at just the right temperature and consistency with warm raspberries. A rather strange liqueur made from jerusalem artichokes finished off a great evening along with a very good espresso. Less than euros for two people we left feeling well satisfied. Thoroughly recommended!
Potato House name saids it up front No reservations on a Saturday night (oops) especially for a family of We called several places until the potato house said they could get us in around pm. Very diverse menu considering potato is the...main focus. Great location, great ambiance, very very good food (slightly pricey but it is in a tourist area) reading other post on service -was typical European experience. Everything is made to order if you want fast food, go to McDonald’s
The idea of a restaurant focussing on potatoes is great and the menu promised a lot. Unfortunately, this was counterbalanced by rather chaotic service and very long waiting time. Also, the place lacks ambiance and the garden is rather noisy not very much hidden from...the street. The key thing, however, is the uneven quality of food. While baked potatoes were very satisfying, the casserole with lamb, cheese and green beans tasted weird and the wine was plain awful. Altogether, I am a great fan of potato dishes, but I wouldn't consider coming back.
Nice food but it took to get the drinks and to get the food.Pommes was very yummy.Waited to long.
