I ordered their French onion... read more This was our first time eating Firestone 's. We chose to go there because our two go-to restaurants were closed after the holidays. I ordered their French onion soup. My wife ordered the cheeseburger. The food came fairly quickly. The soup looked good and the portion was what I expected for a lunch soup. I 8Unfortunately that is where the good ends. I took only one bite of it because it was so extremely SWEET. I have had many bowls of French onion soup but never have I had a bowl that was sweet. My wife tasted it too and was shocked by how sweet it was. Her burger was large and quite rare inside. She prefers rare, generally, but this was almost too rare for her. She had asked for medium rare. This was almost cool in the middle. She had French fries, which were dark and quite mushy. I don 't mind that she does so I had her French fries for lunch. The waiter didn 't come back to check on us until my wife had eaten most of her burger but not the middle rarest bit . It was at least 15 minutes. He asked how our food was and I told him that I did not care for the soup, explaining that I found it to be extremely sweet. He said that of course it was was sweet, it was made with Vidalia onions and brown sugar ?! . He did not apologize or say anything like I 'm sorry you didn 't care for it, . They did remove its from our bill, at least. With regard to the ambiance of the place: it was quite loud, but we expected that, at least.

I do suggest... read more The atmosphere is warm and inviting. We did not have a reservation but were lucky and got seated right away on the upper level overlooking the bar. I do suggest reservations. The meal was top shelf! We started with the crab dip and didn't leave a speck.I had the veal shank and it was amazing! Michele had the sirloin and loved it! Do take the time to eat here if you're ever evenclose to Fredrick.

First time visitors impressed with food service! I made a reservation for our party of 9 to celebrate my daughter 's 20th birthday. We were seated in a comfy loft semi-private section upstairs overlooking restaurant...perfectseating!! Tavern atmosphere as expected. Our waitress was very attentive, sweet provided excellent service throughout ourmeal. Although everything was outstanding the flavors created a party in my mouth, some of the dishes we had were the friedgreen tomatoes, crab dip, butter poached lobster with risotto, crab cakes, arugula salad, signature oyster espresso martini.All dishes made with fresh ingredients their house rolls are incredible! Must try this culinary treat located right indowntown Frederick (allow time to find parking). Excellent experience birthday dinner!!
