Walking through downtown Franklin, my wife and I were looking for a place to walk in and eat dinner without a reservation. Red Pony has bar seating both downstairs and up with several first come, first serve tables. Our meal was absolutely fantastic! First time dining here at the McConnell house location, and I hope they don't move back to the main street location as this is a gorgeous restaurant spread over different floors of an old building with beautiful hardwood floors, wide stairways, and large windows that let in a lot of light (with the added bonus of having ample parking behind the building). While I can't disagree with some other reviewers that the prices are on the high side, however I think one needs to judge prices based on the value and quality of the overall experience. The Red Pony delivers on the value and quality for the prices in that everything was well prepared, beautifully presented, and of large portion sizes, unlike other pricey restaurants where you might leave feeling that you overpaid for what you actually experienced.
Best dinner in Franklin. We had great cocktails to start and the food was phenomenal. I had the beef tenderloin and my wife had the pork chop special. Both were delicious. If the tenderloin is on the menu definitely get it. The only downside was we were just too full to try dessert! Excellent service and ambiance. We will be back!
Wow the lamb chops. Wow the steak. Wow the apple pie! Wonderful service! Enjoyed my meal here very much!
This restaurant is simply outstanding! We recently had dinner for six, and all were impressed. The decor is warm and interesting, and the staff is friendly. The best part though is the food! From the appetizers to the main courses, everything was top notch, and high quality. I'll definitely return for special evenings, or when visitors come.
