We chose to stay here for a few nights based on a friend's recommendation, and I will definitely take their advice in the future. This hotel is housed in an 18th-century historic building, and you can see remnants of its rich history throughout. This doesn't detract from its charm; in fact, the original flooring and overall layout are quite impressive. The owners have done a wonderful job of modernizing the space whi... View all feedback.
The first time in the smithton inn and we were very impressed. our room was perfect and spotlessly clean. love that every room has a working fireplace! Despite the busy road in front, once in traffic sounds away and we slept well. both breakfasts were really good and rebecca took care of individual taste and nutritional needs. she is also a very friendly and knowledgeable host who seems to know everything she wants to do in the opposite. the only proposal I have is to keep policy out of time. I think this is a rule that a business owner should pursue. this is not a place to confess personal political opinions whether they are the same as ours or the opposite. a quick interaction has created a bad memory for us, which is regrettable.
Built in 1763, the 8 room Historic Smithton Inn has a stately appearance, wonderful rooms and attractive grounds. We enjoyed room #3, the Chocolate room, that was good sized and had an attractive fireplace we put to good use with the fire logs we were provided. We loved the historic charm as well as the modern touches along with the incredible breakfasts each morning. One morning began with watermelon and blueberries followed by some excellent roasted potatoes and a breakfast Margarita pizza. Another morning began with fruit, sausages and a wonderful Egg Nog bread pudding. Inside the Inn is Weathered Vineyards' tasting room that is open Friday evenings, Saturday and Sunday. There is live music Friday and Saturday evenings, that is outdoors on a stone patio during warmer weather. Our musician Friday evening was outstanding playing everything from the Beatles to current thru requests. They have a small menu in the evening as well as a selection of beers and spirits. On the grounds there is a large fire pit area with plenty of seats, a huge gorgeous Magnolia tree and a stone courtyard area with lights. Inside there is a small gift shop on the 1st floor. The owners were wonderful, full of local insight and history and take great pride in their fantastic property.
We had a lovely stay at the Inn in the cottage, now that we have a rescue finding something somewhat pet friendly is tough but we had the ground level of this lovely historic place with modern yet vintage touches and rustic look that my guy loves, It had a nice kitchen with table for sitting, very well equipped items u might need Keurig, dishes cups etc in corner are olden 2 part doors let to a screened porch . This i loved enjoyed the breeze and so did out little Sweetie who just seemed to take a liking and too felt at home..very quickly. This room had a wood winding stairs to the upper floor very nice though at a our age, its bit hard on the creaking knees had be careful of footing me..ms clumsy.. but was do-able led to a lovely bedroom and bathrooom w/jacuzzi type tub and shower.. a super cool high trundle bed.. Nice touches, there are things to me that are so fascinating all over the whole inn. My guy was ready to re-book soon as he got home.. we had a lovely breakfast by the caretakers since Rebecca was not there this particular time ..well they were so helpful so welcoming and friendly.. Only slight negative if you are one wants complete silence is there is quite a bit of traffic..where u can hear the trucks but did not bother me in least but i would see my yorkie jump up a few times.. but noise does not bother me..heck i like in a city. Actually too quiet hurts my ears..LOL The area is much closer to restaurants and quite a few stores and Supermarket that i imagined, I didn't see a lot in regard to covid masking but was plenty of stuff in room as to Clorox wipes, sanitizer very out in the open! but having gone around the area of Lancaster etc.. finding are not super big on masking up.. On the whole ..I'd highly recommend this Inn..
We have stayed at this inn several times over the years, and it always exceeds our expectations. It is an historic bed and breakfast, with working fireplaces, beautiful grounds, and wonderful owners/hosts. The room was a good size with a very comfortable bed, working fireplace in season and fabulous rainhead shower in the large bathroom. The stay includes a wonderful several course breakfast, hosted by the personable Rebecca. Parking is on the premises, including chargers for electric cars. Covid protocols are followed.
Pros: food is excellent; great option to other dinner choices in camp atterbury.Con: Their store hours are limited. Outside seating, heat and bugs are sometimes a problem. But the food makes it worth itOverall their food and prices are excellent! When you get tired of subway and all ranks club. This is the place to be.
