Pizzeria De Luca - Frankfurt

I was looking for a good Italian Restaurant in the Bockenheim neighborhood in Frankfurt. Family that we were visiting in the area recommended Pizzeria de Luca. At first glance I thought this was just an ice cream place. I soon found that they are a full service Italian restaurant. I ordered the Italian Salad and Lasagna. The Italian Salad was well above average. If you are looking for a really good salad this would be a good choice. The lasagna was very good also. A little more meat in the lasagna would have put the lasagna in the above average category. Others in our party had pizza bread which they said was very good. Now for the ice cream; all I can say is that there is none better. The ice cream and salad get 5 stars; the lasagna a four.

The pizza is delicious also great service and clean place quickly serving 5 stars excellent place for eat

I judge only the Pizza as I did not try the Ice Cream: I thought of choosing the right place for a Pizza as owners of the Pizzeria are Italian. I was however deeply disappointed in discovering that these were very small and dry. I will not come back for Pizza but will try Ice Cream which seems to be quite successful (I leave nearby and always see some traffic around the Pizzeria de Luca)

I have eaten here about 10 times. This is a family run place and it’s nice to sit outside when the weather is good. The pizza is always above average. Their Italian salad is a stand out also. The only misstep that I have had here was with the lasagna. They forgot that I had ordered it after everyone at the table received their meals. When they brought it out the taste was just not there. I have had the lasagna here before and it was very good. It may have been an off day??? The ice cream is what really shines here. It is made in the cellar below the restaurant by the husband and he does an outstanding job. Do not pass up the ice cream.

Great pizza, fabulous affogato, kids loved the gelato! Family friendly too! If I lived in this neighborhood I would visit it all the time!
