Though this is "only" a hotel restaurant, it is an upscale restaurant for everyone even not staying here and worth a visit. Perfect service, creative food with fresh ingredients, a good choice of wines. The only downside: it was better when it opened and I fear that the quality will continue to erode as I have seen with many restaurants in luxury hotel (some controller whimp comes and wants to reduce cost). What Sibylle Lenz doesn't like about Max on One Grillroom:
We were 8 people for a business dinner and I was extremely disappointed by the service. The staff were extremely inattentive, leaving our side plates until we basically left. The food took forever to come, and when I got my main dish, the sides didn't come with it so i had to wait (AND NO APOLOGY). I think even if it was understaffed they should have explained that, plus they know that this is a fancy restaurant so I... View all feedback.
I cannot say anything bad regarding the food, as it was excellent! although I have to admit that they we a little bit slow...but that is something that shows you that the food is being well-prepared. The only bad thing I have to say is that they charge us a bit too much for a bit of extra tomato sauce. A part from that, our experience was amazing.
After walking around Frankfurt on a sunny Friday afternoon looking for somewhere to eat, I ended up back at the hotel for dinner. Not that there wasn't a lot of choices in Frankfurt, I just didn't feel like sitting out on my own again. I retreated to the hotel restaurant, which was a mistake. I didn't get my bread (which was very nice) until after my entree, of mushroom soup which was nice apart from the rock hard sun-dried tomatoes that were in it. They decanted a decent bottle of wine for but parked it a long way from my table and my glass was empty more that it was full. The biggest disappointment was the 80 euro wagyu steak that was as good as cold. It had obviously been cooked early and sat under the lights to rest way too long. The quality of the steak was also very average. It wasn't seasoned, and had a texture like it had been defrosted from frozen. The chocolate cake for desert was good though. One star for the bread and one for the cake.
Despite the fact that our waiter looked good and spoke perfect English, he screwed up everything with our order. We got 2 sides salads instead of 1 and were charged for it, regular fries instead of truffle and parmigiano fries and rare duck instead of medium one. We didn't get any sorry for any of it. Now we understand why that beautiful looking restaurant was completely empty.
Max on One started as Michelin star high cuisine a few years ago and is not this anymore. Another hotel (the Jumeirah) that saves cost at the wrong spot. But it is still a place where I love to eat and where quality of food, service, wine choices and price match my appetite.

Small portions but pretty good!
