Food is good. Pho bo is on the sweet side. Not my cup of tea. Prefer a more savory version. Best in frankfurt is still Vipho when it comes to pho. Tried their dumpling and summer rolls. Dumpling was delish. 5 stars for that. Summer rolls sauce was yumm. The ambience is top. Love the lanterns hanging outside and the rustic style. Reminds me of vietnam. Service is also good. Attentive. Drinks are yumm. Lychee mix was r... View all feedback.
What My N doesn't like about Haus Kuhwald:
I ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee, fresh coconut, egg rolls, and the pork vermicelli. My favorite was the coconut and the egg roll. The coconut was cold and was very refreshing. The egg roll skin was flavorful and the skin crispy, and light. The Vietnamese iced coffee was ok. The type of coffee used is not the traditional cafe du monde that I like. The pork cut in the vermicelli is pork belly. It is a little too fat... View all feedback.
Where to even start with this one? Unique location, great setting, friendly staff, tasty food, and a bit of fusion makes this quite the find in an area filled with Mediterranean restaurants. This restaurant is best approached on foot, to work up an appetite. Right across the street from a sightly park of greens, this restaurant is very much a sight for sore eyes(and hungry tummies , and very specifically Vietnamese--with some fantastic fusion. The interior was decorated with a lot of vietnamese style decor which immediately reminded me of fancy vietnamese restaurant. Beware the flies--which a traditionally a neighbor to vietnamese restaurants--that are attracted to the strong scents of vietnamese food. Staff was friendly and speak some vietnamese if you are into that. Both my girlfriend and I ordered a beef based dish--mine being a more traditional dish and hers a clever fusion--both ended up being very delicious. I ordered the Bo La Lot(beef wrapped in betel leaves with vermicelli and the other, a Banh Bao Burger(burger wrapped in traditional vietnamese buns . The beef was delicious( even compared to the quality of vietnamese food back in California specifically . The Bo La Lot came only with 4 pieces sadly [priced accordingly] and mostly vermicelli--btw the traditional vietnamese sauce nouc mam is on point(with a decent amount of chili . The banh bao burger had a yummy patty and came with some sweet potato fries and amazing spicy dipping sauce of its own. We also ordered a Banh Bao to go. It was made half of just buns but taste wise did taste like a traditional Banh Bao I 'd recommend any newcomers, tourists alike!

So, I went back to Ong Tao today and was set on getting a nice curry... but when I walked in, I was informed that the pho recipe has changed a bit and I was stoked to try it again after my first experience and hopefully change my mind. I can confirm, it was 100 times better this time! Great and fresh herbs, flavor depth, and just an overall fantastic experience. I am so happy to have found my delicious pho in Frankfurt and it just so happens to be right beside where I live! Thanks Ong Tao!

3 stars cause the service left quite a bit to be desired. We arrived at 6.10 pm with no reservations. Some tables were occupied but not all of them by all means and the waitress still gave me a bit of a stinky eye when I asked for a table for a party of 6. Of course, I found one easily. Once everyone had arrived, we ordered some drinks. I had a standard apple wine which was quite refreshing. Once drinks were served, we put our food order in and I went with #34. For some reason it took a reaaally long time until the food came out. We waited for over an hour. The food itself was great though. Lots of big shrimps in my dish, great taste very yummy. Everyone else seemed to like their choices as well although my husband's summer rolls were really rather on the small side). After serving the food, the waitress never came back to ask if we wanted more drinks or whatever until we were ready to pay so the there is definitely room for improvement when it comes to the service.
