Once you go in you are welcomed with a smile and smell of the lady who bakes afghani bread by the door in a very traditional way. The bread is very good with cheese and plain too. We were here for desserts and ordered Turkish tea and kunafa. The kunafa took a very long time but worth the wait! Warm kunafa with melted cheese and baked in a charcoal oven that added so much uniqueness to the taste. View all feedback.
What Klaudia Wolff doesn't like about Almas:
We went there for dinner with some friends. The atmosphere and interior is really nice. We ordered several appetizer and several main dishes. They have meals from Turkey, Iran and Afghanistan so we ordered something from every country. Food was ok but nothing special because...somehow everything tasted similar. I had better food at other turkish restaurants. View all feedback.
Generally, being service minded isn't the Germans strong suit, however this guy takes the biscuit. If you would like to experience attitude, rudeness and arrogance please visit this place. The lady in the window making the bread hasn't smiled in decades either it seems. Food is ok, not mind blowing, but ok. Interior is nice, nothing to say about that. However the general atmosphere is blatantly rude and unwelcoming. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else..

While spending a few days in Frankfurt, my husband and I were lucky enough to come across the little Turkish gem that is Almas restaurant in the Sauchenhausen area of the city. We had already spent a few days travelling around Germany and had felt a little disappointed with traditional stodgy German food. This was when we stumbled upon Almas. We were met by the owner who was very friendly and ever so helpful guiding us through the menu.My starter was put together out front by a lady dressed in traditional Turkish attire. It was a traditional Turkish flat bread filled with mincemeat that looked a little like a tortilla but was much lighter and full of flavour. My husband opted for a samosa type starter that was equally as tasty. For his main course, my husband chose veal. It was cooked very well and was served with a mango chutney and basmati rice. With the owner’s help, I was recommended one of the specials. It was a lamb dish and was very tender and full of different flavours. The dish was served with generous portions of rice. Our meals were complimented with a bottle (or two!) of Turkish white wine. I never realised Turkey had a name for wine, but this wine was exceptional and was very affordable as wine goes.We were too full to order a dessert, but none the less, the owner who struck up a conversation with us, gave us a lovely complimentary coconut dessert, followed by complimentary apple tea and finished our experience off with a shot of Turkish Raki which was also on the house! All of this, while listening to a musician performing tradtional music in the background. If you have the good fortune to be in the area, don’t walk by. Sit down, have a bite to eat – you won’t be disappointed.
