What Morgan M doesn't like about Horse Hound Inn:
Honestly, this place should learn how to run a business. Two of my friends and I decided to drive here well out of our way for Sunday dinner after a day of hiking around 5:00PM. The restaurant was dead...maybe two parties were seated. We were told we couldn't sit down to eat until 7:00PM without a reservation and wouldn't let he sit in the pub or bar to eat. Never heard of such a thing. This place just lost three cus... View all feedback.
The interior of the inn is equally impressive, exuding a preppy vibe that made me feel like I was in a polo advertisement. There are numerous cozy seating areas, a fireplace, and bookshelves filled with books and games. The guest room itself is spacious, and the bed is comfortable. Although it's an older establishment, they've made some updates. The air conditioning works well, and the shower has a good water pressure. Due to COVID-19, there is no daily room cleaning. There's usually a bar and restaurant on-site, but it was closed because of the pandemic. However, there is a daily breakfast for guests. Breakfast is served every day from 8 to 9 and includes items like ice cream, fruit salad, an English muffin, a meat option, along with coffee and juice. It's always delicious and filling! The staff is also very friendly. We had the same server for breakfast each morning, and she was delightful. We also encountered Doug, the innkeeper, frequently; he was always incredibly friendly and helpful. The rates are reasonable, and the location is excellent—about a ten-minute drive from Franconia Notch, Echo Lake, and Cannon Mountain, and approximately half an hour from Mount Washington. In Littleton, or just twenty minutes south in Lincoln, you'll find a variety of dining options and breweries. We would absolutely stay here again, and I believe it would be a lovely and enjoyable experience in any season.
If you want to start, this is the right way. my man and I needed a short holiday and the horse and hound inn was the perfect fit. from the four-legged turklingel katy (very sweet eagle,) which welcomes all guests to doug, our host, who made the right dinning recommendations for us to enjoy the weekend. the tuckerman tavern inn has a kamin that warms both guests and locals. we will return.
Laura was the nicest person I ever met, the foods here were good. my food took a little too long, but overall great experience
We had the pleasure of dining there for dinner and breakfast the next morning. The dinner menu was limited but offered a good variety. We ordered the carving dish, which was fabulous. Those with dietary restrictions may have some difficulty with the menu options, but I suggest asking for alternatives. Breakfast was simply magnificent, featuring a selection that included cooked eggs, breakfast meats, O'Brien potatoes, a fruit cup, coffee cake, and your choice of juice, tea, or coffee. This place truly felt like an oasis amid a sea of average restaurants. I would highly recommend it!
Our visit felt like a delightful trip back in time, situated near Cannon Mountain. The cozy seating made it perfect for enjoying a game of chess before dinner, with other games available as well. The atmosphere was enchanting, adorned with antiques and a lovely herb garden. The food was fresh, delicious, and carefully prepared. I opted for the shrimp and salmon risotto, while my husband and mother-in-law chose the pork schnitzel. We shared a delicious caprese salad. At first, we were concerned about the limited menu, but everything we ordered turned out to be fantastic and generously portioned. The wine selection was excellent as well. However, if you have vegan dietary restrictions, this may not be the best spot for you. Overall, we had an amazing experience!
