Description

Nestled in rural New Hampshire near Crotched Mountain, this small secluded resort is prized for exceptionally friendly, responsive staff and peaceful, scenic surroundings ideal for skiing, hiking, golf or quiet getaways. Units range from spacious, well-equipped suites with private hot tubs, fireplaces and in-unit laundry to smaller, dated condos with worn carpet and occasional maintenance or cleanliness issues. On-site dining is good; many amenities (outdoor pools, shared hot tubs) are seasonal. Reserve carefully—hot-tub assignment and accessibility can be inconsistent.

This was our first visit to Crotched Mountain Resort, and it definitely won’t be our last. Every staff member we encountered, from reception to maintenance, was exceptionally friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Our two-bedroom unit was spacious, featuring a real fireplace in both the guest bedroom and the living room, perfect for using Duraflame logs. Additionally, each unit has its own private hot tub! During winter, you can ski, and the grounds are stunning, with plenty of trails for hiking. It snowed while we were there, which made me wish I had brought our snowshoes. Aside from skiing, hiking, and snowshoeing, there isn’t much to do in the area, but it was incredibly relaxing, which is exactly what we were looking for.

It's important to note that our visit took place over Thanksgiving, so the outdoor pool and communal hot tub were not available. Some units come with hot tubs on their decks, but you'll need to request those when you make your reservation. All units require climbing stairs, and the second-floor units do not have an elevator, so there are no handicap-accessible rooms. Francestown isn't close to any major tourist attractions, so the main draw seems to be relaxation, summer golfing, or winter skiing. The rooms were very well maintained, and having a full kitchen made cooking meals easy—there aren't many restaurants within a 20-minute drive. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. You can borrow DVDs for free from the main office, and don’t forget to grab a DuraFlame log to enjoy in front of the fireplace.

The two-bedroom unit we stayed in was spacious and well-equipped, with plenty of dishes, silverware, towels, and more. There’s also a pleasant walking path on the property. While we didn't eat at the restaurant, it looked inviting from what we could see during check-in. The washer and dryer in the unit were a helpful feature, especially for skiers and others who might need to do laundry. One downside was that the grocery store is a bit far away, and we found the mattresses to be softer than we prefer. However, they were quality mattresses and not soft due to wear. Overall, we would certainly consider staying at the resort again in the future.

Great place to grab a quick or beverage during a day on the slopes.

The resort is small and secluded. If your looking for peace and quiet and just need to to recharge, this is the place. It has a fantastic restaurant and golf course. I was a little nervous when the address was on a turnpike turns out it’s a mostly dirt road which was great for walking. We had a hot tub right on our deck with a great view of the awesome foliage. The staff is super helpful . Only been home a day, but miss it already.
