Hanlon's - Foynes
Hanlon's
Description
Foynes Inn in Foynes, Ireland, attracts a steady stream of patrons despite some shortcomings. The absence of a bartender named Paddy may detract from the welcoming vibe, especially when interactions with young staff lack warmth. Efficiency during lunch rushes and proper handling of drinks can be improved. Service can be slow, and caution is advised when paying, as excess change may be mistaken for a tip. Despite these concerns, the restaurant boasts a cozy atmosphere, excellent food quality, and friendly service. The hearty breakfast offerings and generously portioned fish dishes receive high praise. The charming local ambiance and overall dining experience make it a must-visit gem in Foynes.

We visited the Foynes flying boat museum, and the Foynes Inn was just down the road about 200yds. We had a very good fish lunch and drinks. The staff were friendly and helpful, would use it again.
Atmosphere is very nice and cosy and food is just excelent. Personel was very nice and welcoming. Food was prepared perfect no thing to add ir take off. And prices are very good.
The food at this restaurant is decent, but it lacks a welcoming atmosphere without the presence of the bartender, Paddy. The young staff can be rude and unfriendly, as I experienced when I found something in my glass of Coke. The server did not apologize and simply replaced the glass without acknowledging the error. I had to ask for a new can of Coke as well, as most of it had been poured into the contaminated glass. Before Christmas, the restaurant struggled to handle lunch orders efficiently, and the water tasted off, indicating it may not be filtered. Service can be slow, so be cautious when dining here. Additionally, be wary of your change if Paddy or Bridie are not assisting with payment, as they may assume any leftover amount is a tip, which I find cheeky. Regardless of the value, change should always be returned to the customer unless stated otherwise.
The breakfast at this restaurant is excellent. The rashers, puddings, and soda bread are all of high quality. They serve endless pots of strong Irish tea, which I highly recommend.
Little pubs are going out of business all around the country. This pub has passing trade and is in good demand. Why finish serving food at 7 on Sunday? We we 're passing and dropped in at 7.30 but couldn 't get anything to eat. Make hay while the sun shines. Long term sustainability depends on this. Foynes was Closed way too early on a beautiful sunny Sunday evening. The Foynes Inn was open, but only for drinks.
