What Dion Hoppe doesn't like about Thai Wi Rat:
Went with partner. Ordering took a while. We waited for a bottle of wine for 20-30 minutes. Eventually we asked, and the waitress came back and apologised that the wine we ordered was out of stock. With nothing else on the list appealing to us, I went out and bought wine. Getting wine glasses took another 10 minutes. This is a hidden gem! They make an amazing Massaman curry and price wise it is very very reasonable. This place is BYO too although atmosphere isn't their strength. Also ordered the green curry with chicken and chicken Panang. Both were nice but the Massaman is what we'll be coming back for. The satay chicken was really nice too.
Best Thai food ever! First vegetarian Tom yum soup I've ever seen - and it was just amazing The staff are so cool and know their stuff about food.
This restaurant on the Brunswick Street Mall serves good (but not remarkable), reasonably priced Thai food and the service is good with very friendly staff.
As far as cheap Chinatown asian that delivers on quality, Thai Wi-Rat has got to be right up there.
The food is fantastic! I have been here a few times for lunch during work and evenings for dinner with friends. The service is always excellent and the menu offers a variety of options. They have a full bar with alcohol as well as a coffee bar that I love. Can't wait to go back again soon!
