Thank you. drove from atlanta to carlsbad and back and had bad luck until I came to them. consistently spectacular. cooked to order. fresh. brilliant. get the garnels. get the oyster. pick up the cats- they will not be disappointed (as I drove I-20 and I-40 on the look for him all the time it was here at sam’s. so easy. great staff of gals to make you smile and feel welcome. thanks! ps- get one of every cake they can... What User doesn't like about Sam’s Southern Eatery:
The quality of the food at this restaurant has declined. When they first opened near Barling, the fish was large and fluffy, and the jumbo prawns were actually jumbo prawns and not overcooked. However, the fish is now very thin and overcooked, and does not taste as good. I suspect they are using Swai fish. I'm not sure if this was always the case, but the quality is not the same as before. We had a great experience at this restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly and the prices were good. We were pleasantly surprised when they gave us an extra portion of meat for each type we ordered, which they called "gratuity meat." The food was delicious, especially the red beans and rice. I usually prefer shrimp over fish, but both were tasty. My boyfriend, who loves fish and chicken, said we will definitely be returning for another weekend trip despite the 2-hour drive. Overall, a highly recommended dining experience!
The food at this restaurant is fantastic, with portions that are large enough to share between two people. I highly recommend it. While the outside of the building may be plain and outdated, the delicious food more than makes up for its appearance.
I recently tried the Fried Fish dinner at this restaurant and it was fantastic. The fish was fresh and delicious, and the portion sizes of everything were satisfying, except for the red beans and rice which was small but still flavorful. As an over the road truck driver who relies on food delivery services like DoorDash for most of my meals, I am often disappointed. However, this restaurant exceeded my expectations and I would give it 10 stars if I could for the freshness and taste of my order.
Hushpuppies needs to be bigger please and salad please don't add pickles yuck..other than it was gd food
Was pleasantly pleased. Wasn't really planning on going out but wound up at Sam's. It was almost closing time and they had no problem serving us. Was served in less than 10 min. I had the grilled shrimp salad. Shrimp was cooked on a char grill with seasoning that went really well with the shrimp. I didn't put anything else on it like salad dressing or cocktail sauce because it was that good. Everyone else enjoyed the chicken nuggets kids meal and a hamburger. We will be back.
