I do miss the iconic Ronald McDonald, but that's just how things change. This particular McDonald's is located on US 17 South, shortly after you leave Bartow, and before you reach Fort Meade a few miles ahead. It's situated on the left side, right in the center of “town.” Once you cross into the city limits, keep an eye out because there’s only one stoplight. If you miss it, you’ll have passed McDonald's. The building looks relatively new and has been remodeled, and they’ve improved the parking situation compared to years ago when cars would often line up onto the street. Nowadays, it seems to be better organized and not as much in the flow of traffic. It’s pretty much the only option around since the Hardee’s further down closed years ago. I believe that competition would be beneficial—perhaps someone should consider moving into the old Hardee’s location. Thankfully, I was just passing through, and stopping here occasionally (as long as it’s not too crowded) is good for the spirit. Plus, I always enjoy McDonald's large regular coffee, especially when they have the $1 deal for any size—why would anyone choose a small?
