The menus previously posted for this place are incorrect I am adding the new updated menus. The Calamari is fantastic! Spicy and perfectly cooked with lightly pickled red onions and peppers and a made from scratch yellow pepper diping sauce. The Cuban sandwich was very good also with authentic spices in the pork. The garlic fries were as advertised, nice and garlicy. View all feedback.
What Gene P doesn't like about Vue On The Water:
This is in the Doubletree Hotel. We are here for a seminar. We stopped in the restaurant for lunch, and just had over an hour and a half wait for our food. It is not even close to busy. If it was unexpectedly busy it would be more understandable. The waitress was very apologetic, and was flustered because the kitchen was so horribly slow. We ended up late for our seminar session with our food in takeout boxes. Don't... View all feedback.
Okay for a hotel restaurant, but not a destination by any means. No way to see the menu before check in which is super frustrating. All sides are at least $7 with a cup of coffee at almost $5. Definitely banking on the hotel crowd. Only ate there as much as we did because of our food credit with the hotel. Omelet your way is the best option and a ton of food. I had one server who was nice and gave me the fruit bowl for free since I wasn't having toast. Other days we just ordered to go (but they barley picked up the phone and didn't actually do room service when you asked them to bring it up was in to go containers and not even the kinds appropriate for the food). Bacon was delicious but 4 pieces for $7. Fruit cup was quite substantial and fresh at $7. The coffee was delicious at the table. Iced coffee to go was meh.
I am writing this review based on my breakfast experience. I stayed at the hotel and would normally have breakfast delivered by room service but that is no longer an option (at this time). So I made my way downstairs and got a seat by the window. The views are beautiful- overlooking their lovely patio, outside bar, and the intracoastal waterway. Portions were generous. Eggs were fluffy and cooked to my liking. Loved the crispy bacon. And they bring you all the condiments in little individual jars and bottles, just like room service. For breakfast, they also offer an all-you-can- eat buffet, or you can choose to order off the menu, like I did. I got an order of pancakes to go for my kid and he said they were light and fluffy. They were very generous with the sprinkling of fruit over the pancakes too. Lots of blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries. Yum.
Surprised! Expecting overpriced, less than impressive vegetarian offerings, and got something really special. Exhausted from business travel, I decided to order room service, realizing the chance of disappointment was high based on previous experiences at other hotels. Although happy to not see the token vegetarian dish of portobello mushroom burger offering on the menu, I did not notice clearly stated vegetarian entrees. I took a chance on the sides. Perfectly seasoned and cooked cauliflower soup with a side of seasonal vegetables. The food was simple, and not overly embellished, which is exactly what I was looking for. Delivery was quick, and I could not be more pleased. Will certainly look forward to dining here again if I should stay here in the future. Well done!
I visited once for dinner and twice for breakfast. At dinner I had their Pub burger blue cheese crumbles, tomatoes, perfectly cooked beef. It didn't have as much blue cheese as I preferred and I found the burger to be bland. The lighting was super dim and there were only a few people here so noise levels weren't bad. I found the price to be on par with most restaurants that serve burgers, but a bit expensive for what you get. At breakfast I tried the buffet. It was a small buffet scrambled eggs, potatoes, pancakes, croissants, cheese turnovers, muffins, and cereal. That was the entire buffet. My head spun when I saw how much they charged for their meager buffet with it's pretty underwhelming selection. If they charged half then it would be more reasonable. The second breakfast I went back out of convenience. I thought I'd get cereal and that was it. My family decided on the buffet again and they were able to eat two plates worth of food each and get a final cup of coffee before the waiter served my dry cereal with a cup of milk on the side. While the wait staff the first two visits were a joy, this waiter was snarky and disgruntled. I wouldn't recommend it.
You are really going to enjoy the breakfast here! Just do yourself a favor and get the buffet. The happy hour deals are insane as well. Fabulous view and even better staff.
