We have eaten at Mezzanote's on several occasions and it has become our son's favorite eating place. The locale is superb, and the food and service is excellent! All at a very reasonable price!!! View all feedback.
What DiningGuide Reader doesn't like about Metro Cafe:
This was the WORST dining experience we have ever endured!! 10 people 1 had a dead beetle in her salad the waiter told her we were eating outside and that happens! 2 Greek salads were served with 75% rotten, slimy lettuce that was warm, not cold. 4 different chicken meals were served with exceedingly dry chicken. $12 **** marys were undrinkable they tasted so bad. Soda served to the children had no syrup in the mix.... View all feedback.

The waiter had a fight with my mother claiming he could not take the vodka drinks off of the bill and then chased us down as we left the restaurant because we did not pay the full 20% tip he had added to the bill.
It is amazing to me how a place so dirty (with poor food quality to match) remains in business. I took a wrong turn on my way to the ladies room and found myself face to face with the most foul smelling insect covered kitchen I've ever encountered. I was a waitress for 9 years before graduate school, and my god, I've never seen anything like it. Avoid at all costs.
We went to the Metro Cafe on Saturday, February 16, 2008 for dinner, arriving at 7:00 pm. Never, ever again will we return. I should have known there was a problem when the hostess was an 8 year old girl, who proceeded to try to seat us at a high top table with 2 high chairs and one low one. After we found a suitable table, we were seated and waited and waited and waited for service. After waiting 15 minutes for the waiter to appear, he told us he would be right back. We noted no one around us was eating, but figured everyone must have come in at once. Then, one by one, at least 8 tables full of people got up and left. The folks next to us came in right before us, and approximately 45 minutes after being seated, their appetizers arrived, only to be the wrong ones. Frustrated, they left. We decided to stick it out. First we were told there was no bread, it was being baked. Then we were told that a party of 70 had come in and the kitchen was a mess. On no less than 3 occasions, the waiter told us the appetizers would be out right away. After 1 hour and 15 minutes, they arrived. Then, about 30 minutes later, we were told our dinners would be right out. Next the waiter told my wife that the restaurant ran out of food she ordered, but that there would be a higher priced entrée substituted at no additional cost. She was not told it would be a very spicy pasta dish, which she was unable to eat. My dish arrived 2 hours from the time we were seated, but it was not what I ordered. The waiter tried his best, but he could not overcome the worst experience I have had in the 25 years I have been dining out in Ft Lauderdale.
I walked into Metro Cafe a single woman (but with a boyfriend on my arm). It was a little late, so it was quite dark and not so many people, but the ambiance was still lovely. The water was at our feet and the server was extremely sweet. A glass of champagne (kissed with a strawberry) and a yummy dessert came out with the most beautiful ring and a proposal from my guy. I said YES!!! and we promised to go back every year for our anniversary. Great Memory.
This was the worst meal, the worst service, the rudest waiting staff, the rudest manager I have ever experienced. I entertained 10 people Saturday May 14 for a celebration dinner. The service was the poorest I have ever experienced. The food was fair at best. They never, refilled our water glasses, the silverware was dirty, they never cleared our table after dinner(even after the flys started to gather) The food was served cold. When I complained to the manager, he could have cared less. In fact, I had to wait in line to voice my opinion and my displeasure for there were three people ahead of me. And to add to all of this, they automatically added a 20% gratuity to the bill. The meal prices were not unusally high, but for the quality received and the very bad service, the prices were outrageously high. I would do whatever I could to avoid this restaurant which is now operating under another name, ;Metro Cafe ; Whether it is called Mezzanotte or Metro Cafe, this restaurant will close in a matter of weeks, perhaps days. Avoid at all costs!
