This restaurant is a great spot for a quick cup of coffee and some delicious Latin pastries. It's also a good place for breakfast and lunch, with tasty Cuban breakfast options like toast, eggs, and ham. The pastries are a must-try, and they also offer a wide selection of desserts. Located conveniently on National Avenue across from the Audi dealer, they open early at 6am but close at 5pm. The service can be hit or mi... View all feedback.
What Barrett Walter doesn't like about Cao Bakery Cafe:
I had to help the waiter to take my order on the device because he did not speak well English. I had to speak in Spanish (not my mother tongue) to give up my order. so irony. the food and the drinks are great. there were other workers, female and older, who knew the ordering machine well and would have been much more efficient to stay in register all the time to take orders while the other type did something else. it... What a disappointment. We loved this bakery when it first opened. The owner was often present and the staff was excellent. It was a pleasure to have good Cuban food locally in Fort Lauderdale. Fast forward a few years…nothing was good, the café con leche was bitter, the papitas cold and soggy, the eggs and ham average at best. Service at the counter not welcoming, to say the least. Major disappointment. We will not be back.
I am always looking for a good Cuban place. Today I visited cao. I ordered a croqueta preparada sandwich and a medium caffe con leche. it took 27 minutes. only nine more customers visited this location. When I asked why it took almost 30 minutes, I was told that the sandwich had to be pressed. this process takes less than four minutes. Also, I don't know how a $8 sandwich and a $2.25 coffee came over $14 plus a 18% tip. I paid the tipp with the order. I wouldn't have tipped after this service. the coffee was good, but that was not sandwich. the outside seats were beautiful. Overall I am very disappointed and will not return.
The staff was very friendly. the eating itself was of quality, not something I would eat on consistent basis. a bit too dry for me (steak sandwich). not to say others would not love it.
This place is really clean. All the deserts look sooo yum. I always get an egg and cheese with potato sticks. They have almond milk which is a nice alternative to dairy. There is a ton of seating options inside and outside.I will definitely be back.

I also had to remind her that I ordered baked, otherwise no one would have gotten her from me. they have to burden management here. would have rated the place overall higher, but not.
