The managers cigar smoke and vulgar language killed the dinner.

I went to eat at this bar/restaurant Sunday July 17th for lunch. They had a wonderful rock singer there but I will never forget the awful food ! I ordered crab cakes and about an hour later I started throwing up and didn't stop for four hours! I had only eaten a banana for breakfast so the crab cakes were to blame. I nearly ended up in hospital. I have never been so ill in my life! You people who own restaurants should be very careful you can kill people with your rotten food.

A gentleman with long hair greeted us at the host stand and he was the greatest part of our experience. True this was a busy Friday night, but we were first put off when it took nearly 20 minutes for our server to greet us. He took drinks and a salad order along with our sons order and came back about 15 minutes later with our drinks. We ordered the live Maine lobster steamed with veg and ff along with two appetizers, calamari and the beef carpacio. After putting in our order we noticed our server sitting at the host stand with another server, smoking a cigarette. I work in the service industry and I am a smoker but what bothered me was two other tables were sat and they simply walked out because no one came to greet them. Also the table to our left had problems finding there server, he was the other person smoking, so they had to walk to the host stand to get there check. When our food came out the lobster was absolutely horrible. It tasted as though it had been split several days prior and then reheated. The claw meat had completely turned to mush and the tail was so hard and chewy that it immediately turned my stomach. I tried to eat the vegetables, but they were first charred and then put into a steam well where once again everything turned into burnt mush. I tried to eat the calamari and after chewing into two pieces I pulled out the middle cartilage of the squid, which is usually removed. I had to wave down our server again, who was at the host stand smoking another cigarette, and he immediately ran over without washing his hands or making any attempt to erase the cigarette smell. We sent the lobster back and the server told us it would be removed from the bill. Even after sending back the 32 dollar entrée' we still never saw a manager or anyone who seemed to be in charge. For the owners and operators of Cafe Del Mar, you have a beautiful restaurant and great entertainment but you should be ashamed of yourselves for the horrible food service you provide.

We sat outside waiting for service for nearly an hour on a Thursday afternoon. The waiter only came around once, and did not refill drinks. Service was very rude, and barely spoke two words to us. I will definately never eat here again. Rude service, okay food.

Made our weekend in Fort Lauderdale. Good food. Excellent service. Great live music.
